First day buddy has had a bird on the front lawn this year. I was beginning to think he may have pulled a FUI.
Noticed one of the "new" (built 1985) RCMP Blackhawks "patrolling" (flying precisely above) the "border" (the north and south shorelines of the peninsula) today, C-FHKS. I wonder if their mission is literally to fly along the shoreline so that they can produce the flight track and say that they're doing something.

They are using more unmanned drones for this now apparently.
The drones are a fantastic idea , the coast guard are using them on Lake Ontario for search and rescue . Our local police ( Halton) just got a couple and are training four “pilots” to use for looking for things like bush parties . The officers can see what they are walking into .

As long as the "pilots" have enough brains to keep them out of aircraft flight paths, they are a good idea. Sadly the "respect ma authoritay" crowd seems to be in charge. Yrp hit a plane landing at Buttonville and took no responsibility for almost killing people through negligence.

Knowing nothing about them, I was surprised at how loud it was. Do they have a "whisper" mode?
Being so loud is one of the reasons they are a bad choice for that role. Libs panicked and needed to get something in the air. More talking, more money burned, very minimal results.
I completely disagree. Blackhawk = big and scary military thingy to really sell the idea that we are doing something to the contentious neighbours. Them being leased also makes it easier to drop them if the puppet show becomes unnecessary
