White Turn signals on M test?

So I was wondering when I was reading up on turn signals.
It mentioned you need amber turn signals on the front, I have white LED strips in my air ducts which are plenty bright, but when I go for my M test do you think they would say that it is illegal and not let me take the test or do you think they wouldn't even notice?

I had my Hotbodies undertail on my bike when I took the M. The instructor said he couldn't see my signals at all and to start using hand signals. If they can see them I don't think they'll care they are white. If they can't, you best be using hand signals!

And they say no.. Better to ask for forgiveness than for permission :cool: If you just go out on the test, they either won't mind or will tell you to use hand signals. The other option would be to temporarily wire the stock yellows.

I am most likely going to just go there and see what they say.
I was debabting on wiring some flushmount yellows just to have them there but I have to drill out the part of my fairing where they go as it is solid right now as I bought aftermarket fairings.

Cheers, Well its still a month away or so just thought I would see what people thought and hopefully they don't take half my money and say you bike isn't fit for the test.

That's probably a sign no one else can see them either... kinda unsafe. Just saying...
 
If its a issue just bring to transparent Oragne plastic wrap or sheets with you. Like the kind from craft stores. And just tape it over.
 
I dont think most places care. They just want them visible. I helped drive for an M test and I was asked by the senior to watch the riders signals. We ended up talking to him after as his after market stuff was hard to see. There were a few marks he prob got because we were watching for signals and neither of us could sort out if he even used them or if we just couldnt see. One of those all in one units. Just looks like one flashing light from behind.
 
You already knew what the right answer was before you came here.
Go back and make it right!
Dont set you standards so low in the future.
 
Similar question. Would the instructors care if my turn signals flash too rapidly? I am too lazy to put the resistors in (have stock rear and LED flushmount fronts, which increased the turn signal flashing frequency).
 
It won't be a problem. White turn signals are okay. Some new BMWs, among other manufacturers perhaps, come equipped with white indicators from the factory.

Forget about it.

Don't be lazy, use a digital flasher!! Resisters suck ;)

Digital flasher is like $15 at Royal ;)

When I took mine, the instructor said mine were hard to see so I had to use them in addition to hand signals....it's a pain, but not a huge problem.

What matters is that its clear. A safety goes into that detail. But you want it clear to the people around you, what your next move is. If all the people see behind you is some strobe light, they might just think its somesort of flashy light alternative to a hivis vest.

Hand signals are awesome to work in. If you are at all unsure... use hand signals. Good habit to have and its an extra way of grabbing drivers attention when your are out riding. Reminds people that you are there and yes its a human being not some robot in leather.

I use mine on the highway particularly if its busy. Find people let me in more often and give me more space.

That's the one! Replaces the existing relay. Comes with a bunch of wiring diagrams for different bikes. If your relay is two wire, you need to ground the new digital relay. If it's 3 wire just match up the colours ;) Makes it blink a perfect rate, no matter how many LED's, blubs, or mix of both you have! Great time to upgrade the rest of your blinkers to LED ;)

You need any help on the install lemme kno ;)

I agree 100%... but the pain refers to the fact as its one more thing to worry about on a test.

Ordered one from GP. Thank you :). Will install it on the weekend. They said it's plug and play right into the existing connector. Would be awesome not to slice the wires, as I just don't like doing that. Sorry for the off-topic!

No probs! No slicing wires with the other one, it comes with little spade things for the end of the wires that just slide into the stock connector ;)

If the GP one is plug and play that's sweeet! I like have sealed up factory type connectors on my stuff ;)
