Where's the ignore button?

I have ignored two people at times. Normally I leave them blocked for years or more before I clean out the list to see if things have changed. One person I blocked has left. One person improved somewhat but is riding the line. So far they're not blocked again.

Possibly cause they are annoying and don't post any valuable info. Maybe even post inaccurate or controversial info on various subjects.
 
I can honestly say I have never put anyone on ignore nor even thought of it,

Lots of information posted here that I don’t agree with.

Putting the poster on ignore is showing that you have fragile emotions and maybe you should step back from the internet for a bit
 
Or maybe you only have so much time to spend on a forum and you get to decide how you spend your time . It’s like walking away from an awkward conversation, you can walk away . It may not mean you’re frail , quite the opposite actually.

I was thinking it would be nice if it was possible to selectively ignore, i.e. ignore new threads by a given poster but not replies in threads they didn't start. That might be asking too much

It’s not awkward at all, this is the internet.

Not like your across the table from someone.

I could say the sky is blue.

Some folks would say it’s green just for the sake of trolling

I’m still not going to hit the ignore button on the person

I don't block anyone either.
 
I only wish the block feature on the forum software here just did a whole complete and true block where you never saw a trace ever again.

As it operates, it just collapses blocked people’s comments into a little “this person responded, click here if you wanna see what they posted” thingie instead. And you still see their quotes in other peoples responses, so in the end you often end up seeing 75% of said persons responses anyways.
 
It not anonymous, many of us know each other in a smaller circle than the internet .
@twoslow , you and I have met in person at the end of my driveway.
