You might try ditching the princess wear. All but tiny dogs and shorthair types can walk briskly at -10 without a jacket or boots. Check her cold tolerance by playing in the yard or dog park - if she shivers, or cries then use the coat. Most dogs don’t like boots, stay off salty sidewalks and she probably won’t need them.
Not sure what it is about me but some things we noticed:
- when I say ‘no Lucy’ to anything she barks, yaps, and overall nips at my clothes and skin. Doesn’t do that with my wife
- outside playing in the yard she’s much more aggressive with me as compared to my wife
Almost seems like she’s fighting against me in comparison to my wife.
Now…my wife does feed her most days, and she does also give her treats way more than I do.

The jacket and footsies are both my wife’s ide and the dog actually likes walking in them. She doesn’t fight against it and I figure it can’t hurt as we don’t have sidewalks in our area and there’s lots of salt so we’re protecting her paws.

I had my leukemia check up Monday but it's chronic not acute. Readings were better than last year. A lot of people have it and don't even know. They die with it, not of it.
Show us on the doll where I hurt you. I noticed some uncalled for jabs recently toward me and if you want to say something…say it, none of this passive aggressive bull.

I sounds a bit like Lucy is challenging (testing) you a bit as leader of the pack. Usual process is roll her over on her back and pin her to the floor, lawn , whatever . Thats a submission pose for the dog and your on top . If she continues to nip, grab her muzzle and hold her down. She may whine and struggle but thats normal . Be the boss . Dogs need a leader, she may not even realize shes doing it.
If your wife protests your being to assertive , repeat the process above.

As an ethologist, there are subtle, nuanced, historical, scientific, and controversies over the use of the terms “alpha” and “dominance” in the pet dog world. However, as veterinarians and dog professionals, we should know that it is NEVER acceptable to alpha roll a dog. The notion that the...

I would go the fear-free/positive reinforcement training route.

If you watch dogs at the dog park , when dog x is Fing around and dog Y has had enough . Dog y pins the other dog down . Maybe I’m wrong with this , I never understood new age parenting either . It’s also breed specific, dogs you see in some scenarios want to please owners and crave attention and need to work . Some dogs don’t care . Our Lab pup by breeding was eighty percent trained , he seemed to know expectations, my terrier tried to do anything except what you wanted .
