What did you do in your garage today..?

Other bearing is already out. Remaining bearing is already smashed apart.

The issue is that the inside diameter of the still-pressed-in outer race, is bigger than the lip in the wheel casting inboard of the bearing. A straight object inserted from the other side rests on the cast lip and doesn't touch the bearing race, so I can't punch it out from the other side.

An inverted-cone - the end bigger than the shaft - or something bent sharply at the very tip might be able to get in where the bearing's seal normally sits, but I don't have anything like that.
Had a similar issue.I dremeled two tiny notches just inside of the outer race (material was a lot softer) and used a long skinny punch after heating the hub.

The easiest way to remove a seated bearing is to with a socket and hammer. Put as large a socket as will fit into the backside opening, a few good whacks and both bearings should start to move.

The important thing is to start there - that way the spanner and other bearing help keep things together, less chance of blowing up the seated bearing.

Why can’t you get it from the back? I get the seat lip is bigger - why not hit the inner raceway? or if that’s gone and balls are out, a punch inserted from the back should catch the outer edge of the ball race.

Anything straight inserted from the other side will miss the outer race completely because of the smaller ID of the lip inboard of the bearing.

Anyhow, it's out. One of the other local retired folk was a tool and die maker and still has some machine shop equipment. He made a special tool with a recess to clear that lip. That, plus heating the area with a torch, plus a lot of beating on it with a hammer, got it out. There was a fair bit of crapola jammed between the outer race and the housing, probably corrosion and powdered metal from the self-destructing bearing. It's all cleaned up and the new bearings are doing time in the freezer.

Back together but with a list. New wheel bearings spent overnight in the freezer, and went in no problem. I didn't change the sprocket carrier bearing because I need better circlip pliers to get that apart, but that bearing feels fine, so this can wait until the next tire change (which is in the foreseeable future anyhow). Front wheel bearings will be done at the next tire change.

I need to replace the outer redundant seals - the ones that the outer wheel spacers ride on. They're so worn that they're no longer sealing at all, and annoyingly, they no longer hold the wheel spacers in place when installing the rear wheel. I suspect the lack of outer seals has let water sit between those seals and the bearing, and the integral seals in the bearing eventually wore out and let some water into the bearing.

The bearing that failed was the one on the right side. The other one, which has the sprocket carrier outside of it, felt gritty, so it wasn't far behind.

The file came in from BT Moto for the stage 1 tune.

Oh my........

There were definitely restrictions in there.

Much more even acceleration and more off it but it does not hit like a brick like before, reduced engine braking (I can change that around) and much smoother throttle application.

Definitely likes to drink fuel now and she was thirsty before.

I only went out for about half an hour so we will see how it goes long term, but so far I am impressed.

Quicker shifting and the removal of the torque limiters in lower gears were the best thing about the BT Tune in my S1000XR.

It already looked like it defied gravity. Must be hyper grin producing now.

Depending on how they looked, I'd strongly consider booking an appointment at a mechanic out there and pre-ordering the tires.

They look fine, but... I know they already have
Over 6000kms on 'em.
I usually get about 13000-15000 km on a set.
So... they're almost half done.
Erred on the side of caution and ordered a set... 'Should be delivered by the end of the week.
I'll start the trip on fresh rubber :)

Way less exciting but I bought this motorcycle turntable used on marketplace for $90....

Even the dog isn't sure how to feel about it, though we did get her to take it for a literal spin.

It seems to work really well on the Vespa's. But honestly, at their weight, you don't really need them.

It works pretty okay on the G650GS.

It's kind of **** on the T120 though!

And that sucks, because that's the one I'm riding the most, and I bought this thing to make life physically easier for me until all my soft tissue damage is sorted out and.... honestly with the T120 I'm not sure if it's worth the hassle. Maybe I'll try watching a youtube video or something before deciding whether or not to keep it.

I bet we could do an upgrade to the internals. Is it easy to take apart?
I like making stuff like this better.

Also less exciting: installed a Rottweiler Power Plate pre-filter for the wife's bike:

Running the extra-dust-protection dual layer filter. Much needed, as evidenced by all the debris under the seat.

Haven't tried it out yet to see if there's any decrease in performance, but all the marketing material assures the computer will adjust. 🤷‍♂️

I have a homemade one of these that I picked up. I found the added height in getting the centre stand down made it almost impossible to lift the bike (700 lbs). I had to put a 1/2” thick board under the rear wheel to level it with the swivel plate, then it was okay to lift up. Made turning the bike a lot easier but if you have a garage full of stuff. I haven’t used it in years.

Arrived two days prior to expected... Ahhhhh the whiff of fresh rubber:)

On a more serious note...
Regarding Dashboard Jesus... Should he face forward to better keep an eye on traffic...

Or... Rearward as since he can see all it doesn't really matter which way he's looking?

Even less exciting, I plugged a tire for the first time in my life (riding mower). I've had a couple plug kits new in the packages waiting to be used for a dozen years abut thankfully never needed them until now. Nice not having to do it for the first time on the side of the road.

What a beauty!

Curious - how tall are you?
How is your lower back after riding this for 2 hours+ at a stretch?
Thank you.

I am 5' 11-1/2" (never to be 6' lol) with a 32" inseam.
Comfort is really good on this bike. The bars do have vibration, so if you are sensitive to that it would be an issue.
The pegs are lower than my Superports were but still higher that an MT09 or streetfighter 848.

Come out to a burger night if you want to try it out.

Thank you for the feedback!

I've been going back and forth between another naked or a sport cruiser variant.
