Waiting to make a left and got hit

...I'm in my cage with family waiting patiently while everyone is trying to squirm into the 1 left turn lane...

You saw all of that and didn't stop?

Just a matter of protocol, but there are many reasons not to stop. If you see emergency personnel coming, it might be better to get out of the way. Only assist if it is safe and you and the people you are with are also safe. If you are with your family and on a busy road, with glass and parts of Buick strewn everywhere, this is an unsafe environment. On the side of a road is an unsafe environment, and there are dead police to show this. It is worse to try to assist and get hurt because now emergency personnel have the casualty and you to take care of.

It is nice and recommended to help others in an emergency but there is no legal obligation to do so (Quebec excepted). You should not put yourself in harm's way when emergency personnel will arrive shortly. If you do you should accept the consequences if you get hurt.

slowbird, thanks for the report. I am sure you can still contact police, tell them the location and time of the crash, if you want to be a witness.

You're 100000% correct about that. One of the first things you learn in a first-aid/CPR course is to assess the situation and environment to see if it's safe for you to help. to your post.

hmm.... a leather jacket will save you from road rash........not a Buick, its just leather it doesn't make you invincible

Proper padding can make all the difference between a snapped collarbone and a sore shoulder though.

That's what happens when the gear nazi's get involved.

No that is what happens when non-gear people start crying about someone who states that gear DOES increase safety. I'm tired of all the babies on here always having the need to run their mouth at the mere mention of wearing 'proper' gear when riding. The poster clearly stated he did not care what anyone wears.

It would be nice if they would just stfu and go about their 'squidding'.

I don't know about the rest of you but when u ride, I like to enjoy it. I understand the safety of leathers, but I don't see how u can enjoy riding in +30 degrees in leathers sweating your balls off. I just use my icon vest
