I'm about ready to throw this countour Roam2 in the trash. How the F can it fog up like that?? I e-mailed Contour and they said "you musta got it wet!"?? pardon? From their own website: "The Roam2 has a fully waterproof camera body. Don't worry about the water. The ROAM2 is waterproof up to one meter without a case." hmmmmmm. It did get a couple of drops on it from all the dew on my SUV and on the bike when I left for TMP in the morning, maybe at highway speeds it blows the water inside it or something!?? The weird thing is all the videos start out clear, then get foggier and foggier as the session goes on :(

Love love love the picture quality on the Drift HD Ghost (fork cam), and the good old GoPro Hero2's are great as well (rear cam and shock cam).

Yes. Most organizers also have tech inspection, and ask you to tape lights and mirrors and replace coolant with water. Reddawn is a different kind of scene. Effectively run what you brung.

Bleed blue's wheelies were mild. Some ****** (starts with d, rhymes with moosh) was doing towering wheelies the entire length of the front straight the entire day. In the morning he was doing it in the beginner group (!); in the afternoon he was in the intermediate / fast group. He put one down right in front of me then completely parked it in turn 1. Not my idea of proper track behavior but then again, Reddawn obviously has a different vision of what a track day should be. I figure that's fair enough, as long as one knows what to expect. I was able to avoid the idiots and still have fun.

Most real trackday organisers (Pro6, Racer5, Riders Choice, GP Bikes, etc.) black flag for wheelies. Some of the very low all out power wheelies like my above vid some of them might not black flag for, but if you clutch it up and ride nose to the sky all the way down the front straight they'll black flag that. I find track days run by the tracks themselves are a lot more relaxed about the wheelies.

I guess if you know what you are doing you can go around the shenanigans, for me however one of the things I enjoy about riding with racers is that you have peace of mind, if they are going to stuff you in a corner it will be safely. In a day like that one I would worry about passing someone and while I am doing it they change their line or something else stupid, not worry about wheelies or slow riders as you can ride around those but still, you can see where people's minds are, they go to track days to show off, if I am paying money to be at a track I am going to try and become a better rider and not work on my wheelies, you can do that on any empty warehouse parking lot.

Exactly. You just have to decide for yourself how much nonsense you are willing to tolerate. In my case I just really wanted to get on track and wasn't going to have another opportunity for quite a while. I am certainly not dissing Reddawn - they run the kind of day they want to run, and we can all choose to take it or leave it. Personally, I am grateful to ANY group that endeavors to provide a track riding opportunity. And in this particular case, they let me join in at the last minute, even though they normally require booking a month ahead of time. That was very kind of them, and I very much appreciated it.

That said, if I had a friend who was looking to do their first track day, I couldn't in good conscience recommend Reddawn. Just not enough control over what is going on on-track to maximize safety for less experienced riders.
 
So if I show up and pay for the day and I find out I'm riding with a bunch of hooligans do you think I'm getting my money back? Before I started racing (which was the middle of last year) I didn't know any better and just rode at whatever track day was available, but now riding with people that are serious about being at the track has changed my perspective. The wheelie in the video is perfectly fine but the one yellowduck is talking about with a clutch up and no black flag, f that I'm out.

well, if you are perma banned and you come back and make it so obvious it is you, then it kind of embarrasses the moods and they are kind of forced to i guess... and you know I am not a big defender of mods in here.

And ZX600, I just found out that you can't just mix and match video resolutions to overlay the live track timer! For example, if you shoot your GoPro video in 1080p but you have an older iPod/iPhone (like my 4th gen), then it won't let you dump the video to it so that HLT can overlay the track info (says 1080p video not supported, STUPID IPOD, I DON'T WANT TO WATCH IT, I JUST NEED TO PUT IT THERE!!!!)! You'd have to downscale your video to 720p for it to work. Another option is you can make the overlay on a temp blue screen video then edit it in using Adobe Primere (really quick once you get the hang of it). Nice thing about doing it that way is it's easy to adjust the overlay to video sync vs. trying to pick the right sync point on the little iPod screen, etc. etc. I'll post a walk through in HLT forums once my video is done encoding.

Super bad news for people shooting in 2.7k on the new Hero3!!! :(

I THINK only works on a jail broken iPod/iPhone and might not be fully supported by HLT. I'm also not sure my iPod even has bluetooth!

What mode did you have your GoPro in? It looks like you had it it slow mo/high FPS mode (640p possibly) OR when you ran it through your editing software you didn't pick 1280x720p for the output resolution ;) And if you want you can upload your ORIGINAL video to youtube, and edit it right on there! You can trim it up to cut out the parts you don't want, and add titles and annotations too! The quality would be way better doing it like that, but the upload time would be long (because of original video size).

"It was my 2nd day with GP shift and quickshift. The first Wheelie to N was just because I did't kick it down hard/far enough to get it into 2nd. The kick into N and run onto grass wasn't a miss shift. I never shift going into the chicane and I just set the wheelie down too hard and my boot bounced off the peg and hit the shifter, kicking it into N (thought I broke a chain! lol)"
