VFR800F and CBR650F coming to Canada

Liking the new VFR! I do have one big complaint though... what's the point in having the single side swing arm if you're going to block it with the exhaust?! Would have loved to have seen them keep the under tail. Great look and and one of my favorite things about the look of the 6th generation.

Price as others have noted seems high, but Honda bikes seem to be over priced IMO.

The point is so its much easier to change the rear tire easily while touring. Even with the side exhaust there is enough room to do so.

On my 5th gen with the same exhaust setup that is not entirely true. You have to loosen the bolt that holds it to the header, remove the one that holds it to the peg, and pivot it out of the way. There is nearly enough room though, it is that close.

hmm you learn something new everyday. My friends have always had aftermarket cans so I'd never noticed this.

Compared to the 2014 Ninja 1000, the 2014 VFR 800 is:

- 20 lbs heavier
- 23 less hp
- 20 ft-lbs less torque
- $500 more expensive
- and has no integrated luggage

Absolutely no comparison for a bike aimed at the same market!

Luggage is an accessory for both, Kawi charges $1160 (http://www.kawasaki.ca/accessory/ka...28-litre-hard-saddlebag-kit-candy-lime-green/), don't think Honda has a price yet. Honda's built quality and attention to detail is better than Kawi. Honda has a V4 which is silky smooth. Honda has a centre stand and better fuel range. Honda has a more balanced look, the Kawi just looks too thick between the wheels.

Not saying I would buy one over the other, but I think Honda has a contender here.

I can certainly attest to longevity on the Honda motors.

20 years old, smooth as silk and lots of acceleration from the 100 HP 4. Had a lovely 150 k ride yesterday.
Honda's build quality is normally outstanding.

The only bikes my kid could not break was the CRF230 and the CRF450r. Always blew up something on the other brands he had tho he did mess the clutch on the 450 trying to play trials rider in the mud with it. But it took a beating to do it.

I don't buy either the build quality or fuel range arguments. The finish on my Ninja 1000 was excellent, and the fuel capacity was not lacking (as long as you rode like a sane person).

I did miss having a centre stand, though. And the stock seat was terrible.

I'd also like to argue that the VFRs are not silky smooth ... the activation of VTEC was abrupt and terrible. I had a 2002, and while I heard that it was smoothed out somewhat in the later models, many people still prefer the pre-VTEC era.

All reviews for the 2014 VFR800 are "first look". I haven't seen any ride reviews, so no confirmation about "silky smooth". Similarly I can't find any images, accessory list or even a reference to integrated luggage. I guess we'll judge build quality when we can actually see one in the flesh.

Well that sucks -- Talking to some friends who went to the Toronto show on Friday, and they said the CBR650F was a no show, and won't be in dealerships until sometime in May. Gotta love when a show is designed to showcase new models and the new models aren't even there...

What about the vfr800f? is it there? Still debating if I got the energy to go down today after the big game this morning...

It may be doable but it's annoying. First thing I did to my VFR is get a high mount and a carbon fibre muffler.
Exposed wheel looks better that way too. Honda could've done better here.

But it should be shown off, not hidden! ;)

The guy I talked to at the show (from Clarington Honda) had no idea when they would get either bike. Facepalm. The VFR was half the reason I went to the show - the other half was Yamaha's FZ-09, which was there in several copies.
