Toronto to St John's (Newfoundland) and back on a Motorcycle

Sweet trip(s). These adventures are what life is all about.

Thanks guys!

One thing that's not on the webpage is a map of exctly where I went. I had my phone record GPS coordinates of the entire trip, and now I have 50MB worth of GPX files.

Does anyone know of a decent piece of software that will help me put those on a map? Otherwise it's just a big lot of useless XML :)

P.S. Any thought about using a public blogging site like blogger or blogspot? You'd probably get more traffic there. In some ways it's more convenient than hosting your own, in other ways not.

Yeah, and it would probably look better too :) But I like fiddling with technology so running my own server is a kind of hobby.

try this... http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/

You should be able to output a Google Map or even a jpeg that you could link to or embed on your Site.

Hey Mig, what a great story, I really enjoyed looking at your pics, I was on PEI this summer too and I know the feeling of long distance riding. I dont know if i have the balls to do it just on my own!!
good for yoy buddy !!!!

Hey Andrew. Great stuff! I will be doing the Cabot Trail next summer on my VTX1800R. Any trouble finding gas stations along the way?

Sadly I didn't go up to that part of Nova Scotia, but I expect you'll have no trouble whatsoever with gas stations. If you want to be safe - install Gas Buddy on your phone and look up where the gas stations are before you go.

Great trip and travelogue! I rode the west coast last summer and was planning to go back next year....you're making me consider doing the east coast instead. Thanks for sharing!

Cool! How did you get your bike there? I'd love to go through the mountains in the west, but don't much fancy riding across the prairies twice..

very cool andrew...i too ride a vulcan 500 (09) and would love to do the cabot trail sometime in the future...

Great write up. My "plan A" for next year is a trip to NFLD next summer with my son and your route is pretty much the one I had planned.

Did that trip in 2011. Did the Cabot trail on a sport bike.

Sent from my tablet using my paws
