TMP Saturday Sept 28!!! WHO'S IN?!

I think you are wrong on this one Benny. Those tires are strange. At some point, with piles of rubber left on them, they just fall off a cliff and don't work anymore. I had the same experience, and others have also reported it. No doubt an R1 will fry them quicker than a lower hp bike.

I ran Q2s all season this year (9 days!) and they were worlds better. I was thinking of just mounting Q3s for next year but Dave Buckland and Paul MacIntosh sat down with me and worked me over at the end of yesterday and convinced me to go to DOTs or slicks with warmers. :)

Buckland gave me the same speech as he did you and well he was right( don't tell him that it will goto his head. Lol). R-10's are a nice dot tire. Predictable and great grip. Warmers are just a nice security blanket for riding. No guessing in your head wether the tires are up to temp. R-10's just aren't Liter bike friendly.

Here's a quick pic of my rear I just snapped with my cell. I can probably get better pics in the daytime:

The track was green in the morning. After 1130 I found there was lots of grip, I ran several 1:16 laps. Running on dot pirelli's.

hpvchevy, you mentioned to me that there was brake fluid all over you tire from your crash. That alone would be enough for me to change them.

Today was run by TMP. However, as YellowDuck said, Dave Buckland ran both tech and rider's meeting, and it was thorough! He also did it on the previous ran by TMP day about two weeks ago.

Did they mention that riders aren't to pull off the track to help out fallen riders, or was that okay by them?

Sunny is right, race the 600 and sell the 750.

You will LOVE racing at SOAR, it's the next logical step for a a fast trackday rider, just ask ZX600 or carboncat or omnivore or JayV or Mr.Azim or ScreamingSon or FriendlyFoe or anyone else who progressed from trackdays to racing.

Trust me, you will LOVE it!
I love racing. Started back in 86. Retired at the end of 92. No more tobacco money:( Then no track till early 2000. Riding vintage bikes. Bought new bikes in 2010. To do trackdays but they just don't give me the same satisfaction as a good battle. Buckland tried to pass me into turn 6, only made it to my footpeg. My first thought was turn and chop his front. Old habits die hard. Instead I ran in deep and passed him back on exit:)

LOL, no Rookie for you then!

You sound like a perfect candidate for the Old Boys Class :) Which is another 600cc only class. Buckland occasionally runs this class as well.

That was a few track days ago, no problems with them up until yesturday. I cleaned it with non-clorinated brake cleaner after I discovered brake fluid on the rear (after my calabogie crash) and has ran perfectly fine (including much faster lap times than yesturday) ever since, until the funny stuff at the end of the day yesturday :(

Did you not hear me yell out when they were talking about the red flags, to not try and help fallen riders? I believe they missed it at the riders meeting a few weeks ago, and people did stop and try and help, so I specifically mentioned it during this riders meeting, I would hope everyone heard it.

Great pic of chase by Brody on the 675, vids will be up shortly. WOOT FOR SMILES!

It was explicitly forbidden. Really, the meeting was very thorough.

Oh ya, I totally forgot. This sounds perfect, other old guys that don't bounce as well anymore. Lol :) Thanks.

I

Thanks for asking!! I had knee surgery a week ago and it probably wasn't the smartest thing to do a track day today. The first or second session after lunch on turn 6 (the sharp left hander) my left knee totally gave out and I almost fell off the bike :( If I had a tail cam pointing forward, or my undertail cam, it woulda made for some funny video for sure :( My doctor gave me some meds I was supposed to take with breakfast (to keep the swelling in my knee down) but I totally forgot, so by lunch time I was limping around on it. I didn't run the last few sessions of the day because of it :(

.

Sounds like you endagered yourself and others.....I can imagine what kind of meds you got.

Nice work

I figured as much, luckily I wasn't right behind ThatGuy(tm) when we got to turn one.

Wasn't there, had my own little meeting later. This is one of those things I think should be universal and printed on little guide cards so I'm glad someone brought it up. Less universal, or at least less mentioned, is to check in with the head marshal after riding into the grass.

I had a long run through the grass at turn 2. When I finally got stopped I looked it over and all was good. Got turned around and saw a bike down and a rider standing beside it, right where I ran off. So I thought I took him with me, asked him if that was my fault. Luckily he said no it was all him. Waited for a break in traffic and carried on. I did not think wasting the mashalls time was required in this instance. He had a downed bike to deal with.

Fair enough.

I think it was a GTAM day where we were told to get back to the pits asap but riding slow and off the racing line, looking it over yourself does sound safer overall, unless you are still in a crash zone.

Great day all in all, best of the season.

First time the wifey came with me to see what i spend money on :P

She timed me with her iPhone, best time was a 1:21:05, but i was running consistent times more or less at 1:21-1:24, never knew my lap times before, time to invest into a lap timer for next season

If you had a rear facing camera on your bike and in the yellow group, I'm the guy who was waving hello :P

My apologies to yellowduck for making a pretty close pass along the wall on the first straight. The rest of that lap was brutal for me because that pass was playing in the back of my head. I just had a great line coming onto the straight

I personally didn't notice the oil spill on or it didn't effect me. Maybe it made me faster :P

I *think* I remember that, you passing between me and the wall? No biggie - didn't bother me at all. If I have it on tape (likely) I will post it.

THanks man

I did feel like crap after, but I didn't have the balls to say sorry to you in person, and the fact that you were all the way at the other end in the pits :P

I was watching my gopro footage of the pass. I think i have a good one or two laps of me following you before the pass.

I saw your post in the other thread (SMP OR TMP) didnt know if you were talking about me :P

Meds were Celebrex, lol! They don't affect anything other than inflammation so nobody was put in danger (at least not due to the meds).

Those are great times for yesturday :) If you have ANY andriod phone (my buddie got an old one with android 2.2 off Kijiji for $30 and loaded on Race Chrono, FREE!) or any iphone 4th gen (even ipods work) check out harry's lap timer. If ALL you want to know is your lap times (and not sector times, lines and speed) then just fire up harry's lap timer (or race chrono on Andoird) on your phone, throw it in your track suit pocket and do your laps. It'll time every session and every lap and give you all your bests, etc. The harry's lap timer for $8 should suffice for just raw lap times. If you want lean angle, overlay to your gopro video, your exact lines through every corner, etc. then the $20 has all the features but you usually need a higher accuracy GPS receiver (starts at $100 for iDevices, cheaper for android).

I'm getting my intermediate group rear cam vids up now, session 3 is going up first (almost done). Fell free to let me know which time(s) you show up on the vid and I'll take some high quality frame grabs from the original footage and post em up for ya :)

Hey thanks for the heads up , i will look into that!

I'm on the black zx6r with a white tank #123 If you were on the naked r1, than sometime in the morning i was behind you waving at your camera, sort of my thing :P Your bike was way to fast to over take in the straights.

Ha ha! No, you weren't the Doofus. That's funny. Just shows you have the right attitude that you were actually worried about it.

The guy who was stuffing people all over the place was practically pitted right beside us. I figured he would come and apologize but when he didn't that kind of told me what kind of guy he is. I have footage of the turn 9 incident and will post it when I get a chance.

If you are able to post the other footage that would be great.
