Who is planning on going? I'll go on Sunday and/or Monday.

Also, can Dunlop 211 GPA's in hard compound be run without warmers? First time on those tires and won't have warmers (my front one burned and is out for repairs), and I'm clueless to whether I'm crazy to run with no warmers or not.

See you guys there. Also, pretty much any tire can be run without warmers. Just do a few laps to warm them up first.

Pretty much. Though with the hard compound do an extra lap or 2 on top of that just to make sure they are upto temp.

Not so. It's very hard at the best of times to build or retain heat at TMP and GPAs need to be warm. (Do they even make a GPA in "hard"?)
You can warm a Q2 at TMP but I doubt you'll have enough initial grip to get any heat into a GPA. You'll end up ripping the surface off the tire.

Talk to whomever sold you the tires; Pro6, Competition Cycle . . .

Yikes, that's very discouraging :( And yeah, they make them in hard compound, the ones I have I got from a friend, and they have 10 laps on them. I was using Bridgestone slicks before, and for those I'd have to be suicidal to ride on without pre-warming them first. I was hoping the GPAs are more forgiving, but I guess I was wrong?! :(

Anyone going Sunday or Monday and has a spare front warmer that can let me use while we're there? Will buy you lunch for potentially saving my skin :agave:

I don't know why everyone says its hard to retain heat at TMP.
I'm a slow intermediate and my GPAs come in as hot, and more often, hotter than when I go out for the session.

Sat. if your going Sunday u can use my warmers

Thanks bud, I'm going on Sunday, and I just need the front warmer, I promise to take good care of it. Of course---I break, I replace with new, that rule goes without saying. Now to figure out how to get it from you and return it...maybe leave with somebody who is camping there overnight?

Dave, not sure if I'll be able to do both days, but we'll see. If stars align correctly on Sunday, I might become good enough for red--I've set myself the threshold of 1:21 for advancing into the group.

I have not seen any ripping with any of the guys I pit with and they don't use warmers.

Orlin, if it makes you feel better I plan on running my Michelin Power cups sans warmers on Sunday

I also build heat at TMP, which I judge by the fact that when I return back to the pits, the pressures in both tires are higher than what they were just before removing the warmers at the beginning. Personally, I think they say you can't build heat only if it's a very cold day, like under 10C or so..
