The Reasonably Priced Used Motorcycles for Sale Thread

Looks like a 1987 Honda 600 hurricane. An old f1.

Parts bike. Might have something usable.

In Aurora.

Wasn't there someone here trying to rebuild one of these? The guy that just bought an '85 Honda v45 500 interceptor?Screenshot_20251017_120334_Facebook.jpg

Yeah, I think you're thinking of me. I have an 87 F1. I had it running but not road worthy.

And I bet I know who bought that bike in the ad. I have pretty much everything the bike in the listing had. What I don't have is - pretty much everything the bike in the listing doesn't have.

That project is on hiatus - maybe permanently. I'd love to get it all back together just because it was my first project and I was so close... but my 500s are now my priority and with the limited time I have to work on them - it might be that way for a long while. I also might have to sell or part out the 87 just to clear some space because I literally have none.

Inside the tank will be more orange than Donald Trump.
You sure?
The 36yr old bike I bought in May had sat >11 years with ⅓ tank of (what was formerly) gas in it.
After draining it, and rinsing with fresh gas, the inside of the tank was shiney & still like new. Not a spec of rust or crude came out (to my surprise).

Inside the tank will be more orange than Donald Trump but could be a fun winter project for someone.
They were awful bikes, but stone-axe reliable.

For $100, they just want it gone. I wouldn't expect much.

Good project for sure. Great learning experience for someone with time and drive.

My neighbour has one and loves it. It's been a reliable ride and gives what he wants from it for minimal cost. It's not a bike I have any interest in.
A friend had one (yellow) back in the mid 2000's.

I have found them to be appealing and any way, shape or form.

But than again there are people who don't care for VStroms. 🤷

Am I sure?

What color was the gas that came out? Did it start with an Or and end with an ange?

Fuel drained from my 1970s Honda CL-350 a few years ago. It had been sitting for several years. Yes, I'm sure they get more orange inside the tank than Trump.

It might just be me but i swear that the additives in pump gas have gotten nastier and more corrosive of late you might have gotten lucky with the older fuel.

If the bike was stored in a temperature controlled environment (or even a large enough unheated garage that could buffer the temperature swings), then there would have been less chance of condensation and therefore rust. Problem is, most people's unwanted motorcycles just end up under a tarp in the back yard, or in the garden shed.

Yes, it was discoloured, and didn't smell much like gas, but the inside of the tank was shiney silver, and no signs of trouble.
Here it was.....

The honda would probably happily run on that. Long ago we fired up an abandoned CT70 with gas more than a decade old. After, we felt bad for it and dumped the gas out on the ground so we could put fresh in. With a torch, we couldn't get the old gas on the ground to burn.

Is the CB-1 on the road yet?
