2004 Honda CB599 33k $3000. Decent price but one big problem

I guess when not being used as a wheelie bar, that exhaust could work like a wheelbarrow handle and be used to wheel the bike around your garage...

"Inspired by ducati"?
Makes zero sense. There's literally nothing about the 599 that's inspired by Ducati. I mean, I guess the underseat exhausts that were ubiquitous in the era could be 'inspired' by the 916, but considering Ducati stole that first from the Honda NR750 (among many other details on the 916), I don't think Honda would be too happy about that assumption...

I wondered if because it was a naked bike, the monster was it's father. In every case, it seems like more than a stretch.

FJR 1300 for $2k.... seat alone is worth $500. Few years back might have had a go at that ...better bike for touring than the 2009 CBF1000 that cost $5k a few years back that I bought for my son. The FJR only 100 lb heavier and would be comfier plus 25l tank vs the piss poor 19l on the Honda that barely got 300 km range. 31.5" seat height on both.

 too old too soon

This is tempting 40lb heavier than my CB500F - same seat height.

I mean, I guess if it was just a CBR600 sans fairing in the same way the original Monster was a parts-bin special cobbled together using existing 851 parts, but it isn't. It's got a retuned CBR600 engine, but the frame and everything else is unique to the 599.

I know I'm being a humourless pr!ck, but it is a pet peeve of mine when people compare or dress up other bikes to be more like a Duc thinking that somehow makes them more appealing. Honda has 10x the history that Ducati does, just not the aspirational marketing.

To each their own and all that, but that is a PROFOUNDLY ugly motorcycle. I am curious about the phallic cover the radiator has been garnished with, is that a custom piece or is that something people pay money for on the aftermarket?

The dick covers a rad hose. Imo, the exposed hose looked much better. The left side of that fairing is not as ugly.

Looks like something that would be sold by the UK vendor that used to always be in Streetfighters magazine back in the '90s, the name of which I can't remember to save my life. I want to say streeghtfighterz.co.uk, but that's not it. They sold all sorts of cheap plastic customising bits, especially for bikes like the GSXR1100 that were popular in that scene. Always a hideous colour, always looking cheap. I remember dozens of headlight units, each uglier than the last, to replace the smashed off bits of your sportbike...

Brain finally stopped slipping the clutch: shop was called Demon Tweeks. Dollars to donuts those shrouds, or whatever they are, are made by either Pyramid or Ermax.

Have been having flashback to scantily clad and very, very British models draped over Spondon-framed Gixxer 1100's with a massive turbo bolted to the side, or 'fightered CBR900RR's with acres of polished aluminium frames that were blinding. Also with a massive turbo. Everything needed a massive turbo. Those were the days, my friends, those were the days...

Bang on. Ermax. The marketing pictures only show the left side. I think they knew the right side would hurt sales.

LOL. I saw the link and read the text with the picture below the screen (out of view) and thought, "Well what problem could be THAT big..." and I scrolled down.

WHOA!! That is seven ways to Sunday UGLY. Is the guy color blind? How else do you explain an intestinal pink paint job. And exactly what is he saying subconsciously with that exhaust?

As others have pointed out, it looks strait outta one of those English bike magazine from the mid nineties.

Can you imagine buying based on that pic and then hauling the other semi-erect side out of the foam peanuts on arrival? What a bummer...
