The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

That’ll be like fish in a barrel in Brampton
Especially if they change the rules. Note that I was a whole 1 Kmh over what the reasonable limit would be, given signage I passed before going north on the same road. The last thing I saw, before making that turn, was 50 Kmh (40 Kmh when flashing).

Did you get a ticket? or still waiting?

I got a photo notification in the mail. Rather ironically (in the Alanis sense that it sucks, not the real sense) I found it in the mailbox immediately after coming back from from the same trip I made when the picture was taken, the week before.

Waze is a great app for letting you know when and where the cameras are.

Also i think Google maps now has the same feature

Waze does, but I've not seen any of the Brampton cameras on Google Maps. I'll ned to see if I can change the default navigation app in Android Auto.

I have waze as my AA navigation app. I don't think it's as complicated as "default". It just starts with the last one you had open (either waze or maps).
I just tried it and it's almost that simple. I opened Waze and then closed it again. Went to my car and started it up. Android Auto defaulted to Google Maps but, after few seconds, a notification came up saying that Waze was available. Tapped on it and it switched to Waze.

In Ottawa suburbs, they put them in 40 zones that once were 80 zones. Dead straight with a clear view ahead, always aimed at the downhill side. The person/company with the contract is fortunate.

There may be some changes in the works.
A little math. According to that article Windsor is planning on doubling their number of speed cameras from 10 to 20. Brampton, with a population about 3.1x as big, would be expected to have about 63 cameras if the ratio held. We have 150, with a total 0f 185 projected by the end of summer. That's not for "safety."

Just another reason to avoid driving in, through, or near Brampton. They must be raking in the $$$ with the quality of driver I've seen from that City.🤣 Trying to get through there on the 410 is an exercise in self preservation.

What percentage of cars have fake plates? When issuing photo radar tickets, do they bother checking the vehicle description vs the one registered to each plate?

I don't have that option. Coming up on 53 years here. I predate Bramalea City Centre. I was at the naming of Team Canada Drive, where Ryerson's new School of Medicine is going to be come September.

We lived there for 10 years. Bought our first two homes in the "G" section. Got out of there in 1991 and never looked back. Sister in-law still lives there so we have to occasionally visit.

Redo the Windsor and Brampton math using a percentage of the population that DGAF about speed limits vs. total population. I'd guess Brampton is light on the number of cameras they should have.

Well, today it seems that I'm the bad driver. I just received a speeding fine, from a Brampton speed camera. I noticed they had recently put up a sign indicating that speed cameras were in use on Earnscliffe Road. What I didn't notice was the relatively new 40 Kmh speed sign, 200m north of Balmoral. The speed along Balmoral, at that point, is a provisional 40 during school hours and 50Kmh at all other times. This new 40 Kmh sign isn't provisional. I was ticketed for 51 Kmh in a 40 Kmh Community Safety Zone. The ticket was from 1 week ago and I'll likely be getting a second one, for today. Bramptonians, beware.

Yeah.. I've gotten a few of those in the past few months. 12 over.. 11 over.. 11 over.. 13 over. There's speed limit changes at at-least 2 of the spots I got pic'd at.

Someone at my work in the DGAF about "our" rules category got a 90 in a 40 school zone during school hours (flashing sign lights) last month. $1,350 later....... Not sure about details, but he's been driven to work by his wife or coworker since.
