The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

He's been released on bail. Don't worry, though. One of his bail conditions is he's prohibited from driving a motor vehicle.
Here's more on the story. Injured kid is still in a coma (that's a bad sign). Dickhead prohib driver ran a red.

Imo, judge (jp?) that granted bail with a driving prohibition as a condition should be fired. Wtf. He has three lifetime driving prohibitions. If you feel the need to add another that will be ignored, you have cemented the argument that bail should not be granted as he is a substantial risk to the public.

We don't want to impose any conditions on him that may affect his immigration status. That would be RACIST!!!

Today's bad driver was the Peel Regional Police officer who followed me for 5 Km FROM IN FRONT OF ME. I thought I was just being paranoid but he didn't signal until I did, then always went in the same direction. He was drifting into the oncoming lane and the bike lane, probably because he was spending too much attention on watching me in his mirror. He finally screwed up by turning into my complex's parking lot, before realizing it wasn't a side street. He went around the corner of the lot and sat there, in shame, until I had gone into the house.

You should have signalled, slowed down behind him at the turn, then cancelled your signal and went straight once he had 100% committed to the turn just to eff with him. A U-turn after that for some added screwing with.

Once, when I flashed my headlights to warn oncoming drivers of a radar trap I failed to notice a squad car just up ahead. It pulled out and followed me for a couple of miles. I drove like an angel and they gave up.

I did seriously consider that, once I saw him turn into the parking lot, but figured him being trapped, with my car between him and escaping with his dignity intact, was the better choice ;)

Was it a squad car or unmarked? If the latter, was he trying to goad you into making a chargeable move to make his quota?

It was a plainly marked Peel Regional Police vehicle. Pretty hard to goad someone into doing something when you're in front of them, so I really don't know what his game plan was. As I said, I was driving far better than his drunk seeming self.

Grr. He's killed three people while driving and he's <35 yo. Any guesses as to how lenient the courts will be with him?

"An 80-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were pronounced deceased at the scene. An At the Scene investigation later confirmed that the accused had been prohibited from driving until 2026 — the result of a 10-year driving ban issued after a 2009 fatal crash, with further bans added after additional convictions.

Due to provisions contained within the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the individual’s identity cannot be disclosed. However, past court records and archived media reports show that as a youth, the individual was convicted in a high-speed police chase that killed a 48-year-old man in Barrie. Despite the lengthy driving ban, the individual has since been charged repeatedly for driving while disqualified, using stolen licence plates, and operating vehicles without insurance.

Court proceedings over the years have cited behavioural and mental health issues, with the Crown previously warning that the individual poses a continued risk to public safety.

The accused appeared in court in early April 2025. As of this report, no further information regarding the outcome of the current trial has been made public."

I understand that the young offenders act is to let the punks mature a bit and move on to productive lives. If the punk is 21+ and still doing the same s***, he's proven he's beyond fixing and any protections should be removed. All his crap is on the table. Theft at 14 YO, Yup it was John Doe the third. If a person learns from their mistake give them a break, eventually pardon. Slow learners still learn. The no learners need a one way ticket to El Salvador.

For me the adventure of the day was a trip from Etobicoke to Markham, witnessing numerous just about crashes.

On the trip home contact was made, fortunately not with me but it was close. I was first in line to make a left from Marmac Dr to Attwell. Traffic on Attwell was light, hundreds of meters between cars and a southbound twit wanting to make a left onto Marmac tried to shave a couple of seconds off his travel time by doing a quick left in front of a northbound.

The left turner got driven towards me but stopped before contact.

I think I need one of those blood pressure monitoring watches.
