Oh, and @boots, those reddit posts hurt my head. If there is anything that I have learned from GTAM it's this: if you do something illegal to avoid being hit, you are alone responsible for your actions. I would have done the exact same thing as you.

I don't see his name in the IMDB credits. He self identifies as a Nordic pagan, murdered the guitarist of the group Mayhem, and burned several Christian churches. I would rather not mention him by name. No point is increasing his fame.
Wow, unfortunate. Guilty, I also did not know to come to a complete stop. I rarely see anyone stop and when I do I always consider it a nervous Nelly type response. My bad. I just get out of the way and hold a steady speed. If the emergency vehicle is on the other side of a median I still pay attention but basically consider it a non event. Anyway, time to break out the buffing compound.

Does anyone know how thorough an inspection is on a vehicle after it's been hit? Do they look at the transmission at all? I ask because my car made a weird whining noise when it was hit you can hear it in the video and I don't think it would be fair to drive a car that I bought a year and a half ago has been aesthetically repaired but mechanically left alone.

Take it to a reputable repair shop (can't help you here) and tell them you got rear ended and insurance is paying for it - mention the transmission and the noise that it's making. They tend to find every little thing wrong with the car to boost the bill especially when you're not at fault.
Sorry that happened especially since I live in the area as well... I've said it many times before, but although driving in Downtown Toronto daily is bad, once you get up into Woodbridge/Vaughan, you realize it's worse there especially when it comes to distracted driving - almost (or just as bad) as Brampton.
Of the 1 - 1 1/2 hr drive back and forth, 'incidents' with other drivers commonly occur the moment I'm North of Steeles.
Also realize, many people on Reddit aren't old enough to drive.
I hope you're going to get yourself checked out if you haven't already if you're feeling pain all over.

You forgot the part where they seems to know your mom more than you do. Plus they're always with her last night. How that happens without my dad knowing is compelling
I was gonna post a video from yesterday where not one but 3 left turning cars blocked a fire truck from passing through an intersection. That is until I realized that those couple of minutes precisely were not captured by my dash cam

I always assume people that do this must be off-duty cops. Everyone I know that's done this has been bent over when caught.
