Personally, I'd just walk away and forget the whole thing. But if you want to do a service to other potential buyers, call the cops and let them figure it out. I wouldn't even meet this guy.... See previous crowbar comment to understand why.

You're right, it's not a fair comparison because the cops have consistently shown greater interest in enforcing the speed limit than investigating stolen bikes.

A more equivalent comparison would be to call and say "I think a bike sped down my street at some time". That would get you about the same level of response as "I think this bike on kijiji might be stolen".

hahaha...go check bike out, get vin from guy, pull a uvip if you want, get it certified and negotiate with the guy to get the price down since you got it certified...meh...sounds like the dude is lazy, doesn't know what he is doing...which also gives you an indication of the care he put into the bike...which means, DEFINITELY get it looked at by a pro...
 
so next time you go look at a bike, used car, fridge, stove whatever it may be you should call the cops to escort you???? i dont see anything creepy about the add and **** happens its called life .... cant always live in fear can you

Not what I'm saying. However, some guy posts an ad for a silver fridge but shows a picture of a blue fridge, then you ask for more pics and he sends a pic of a red fridge and says "come in my basement door cause I keep it in the basement in the dark, sorry about the lights". I'm not going in...

No. Rich said he wasn't scared to go alone. I'm simply saying that just because you aren't scared, doesn't mean that nothing will happen. Just be careful if he goes to look at this bike.
This whole situation could be nothing, could be something. Take precautions to protect yourself.
