Stocks

I’m curious to see what happens this Thursday. (The hold comes off some of the early investors).. iirc.. more shares could hit the market than did on opening day.
Oh wow...already? I know a few people that bought 5-10 shares, and they're freaking out considering how much the stock has dropped since they bought in at IPO.

I still have a total of zero shares.

Thursday’s hold releases aren’t the IPO investors.. it’s the pre-IPO investors and employees. I think it’s about 900 million shares coming off holds on Thursday.

That one was hive.to. I’m just playing the swings with it… not holding it.
Oi. What a buzzword pile of crap. I'm glad the swings are working for you. Holding it long-term seems like a loser.

“Stocks like hive, keel, bb, hut, mda, Spcx.. and a few others are just swing plays for me.. honestly.. I know little about the stocks.. haven’t read any financials.. and don’t care to. I’m only looking at the patterns and trying to grab a few pennies in the swings.
I’ve been pretty lucky since I started again… but make no mistake.. I am gambling.“

Hey gang, just curious which brokerage account you setup and where, and possibly why?
They all seem a bit similar to me, thinking I'm going to go with RBC since most of my stuff is there already.

I am with itrade as I followed over from etrade. It's fine but not the best. If you want full-featured and no spread on currency conversion, IBKR is probably your best bet. Super low trading fees too. For approachable, wealthsimple isn't terrible but I dislike that they have "free" trades but their bid/ask spread is wider to hide where their income comes from. WS gives you some unrelated perks like airport lounge access if you have enough money there.

EDIT:
I setup a RRIF on itrade. During setup, it lets me define a withdrawal schedule. There doesn't appear to be a way to view or change it without messaging customer service. That sucks if true. Also can't easily transfer to RRSP>RRIF, it needs to go in as a request and a person executes it. Again, not ideal. I may open IBKR for RRIF and transfer from itrade to slowly move money away from BNS.

Thanks there is always a sneaky catch I guess. I'm not really planning to do daily trades, or play the market. Just moving most of my mutual funds to ETFs, and maybe a select few stocks. I've been consolidating all this stuff close to finally putting it in place.

Go talk to your bank for 10 mins. I did that with mine and found that I got some decent benefits when doing a fixed monthly transfer into my trading accounts which works out fine for saving discipline. If you’re not doing tons of trades then the fee per trade isn’t going to kill you and your bank branded etfs may also be free. If you’re doing lots of trades then the 9.99 per trade fee adds up and then wealthsimple or one of the other discount brokerages might be better.

For me I stuck with my bank for convenience and the fact I’m not a day trader. I’ll probably make a few trades every few months once my transfer amounts add up plus I can always go and talk to a person in my local branch.
