Spare fuel

I know of a Spyder rider who was stuck in Tuc for 4 days waiting for the gas stations to get a load of fuel in.
I ride a lot "north of 7" where gas stations are hard to find let alone a place to repair a tire so I carry this.

I’ve had a handful of times where both my CB500X and Scrambler were on literal fumes when I found an open / functioning gas station.

GPS states ‘gas station in 50km’. Great when fuel gauge says 70km left.

Arrive only to see an abandoned gas station around Algonquin. Or closed.

A small 5-10L capacity extra tank could come in handy even in the Ontario area.
 
I use this . Just saw the small end off, holds 2.2L. I have two of them, they fit in the side bags perfectly and have NEVER leaked. The other end holds 6L ,handy for the garage

Good suggestion. Something that can fit in the tail or side luggage is the best option for day trips. Will look into this.

2.5L may be a bit small….but a 5L will give me about 50km which should suffice for any emergencies.

Once you are into emergency gas, be really light on the throttle amd you would be surprised how far you can stretch it.
 
Given how things are going in the world lately... There may not even be any gasoline to worry about carrying extra... :)

There's a 386 km stretch without services on the Dalton Highway, the most northern road in Alaska (most northern road in North America actually). I was worried my R1200GS with typical road range of 400 kms wouldn't make it because the Dalton is almost entirely gravel and mud.

High gear and light throttle, had another 50 kms left in the tank.

I want to see how much I can actually stretch it but that needs a spare canister. 170km the light starts blinking. 200km I start getting worried.

220km and I was on fumes.
 
The CBF1000 had lots of thrill at the throttle and horrid range. I'll take the range. Wringing the neck of the unladen Vstrom 650 was much fun in the twists if you kept the revs 7k+ yet still allowed 400+km range. Good feature mix.
