Sandy comes aknockin'

I rode breifly to the store and back.

Rain was coming down but nothing too bad.

Couple of tree branches on the road etc and some big puddles

Hurricane? This is a joke. CNN doesn't even have enough news to report on and keeps running the same lame damage stories every 30 minutes.

Yep this is a joke. About 80km/h winds. If it was a full fledged most likely would be 200km/h.
That's where planks and boards come at u like bullets. Better get your bullet time warmed up

$50 billion rebuild is no joke.

Wind rarely does the kind of damage storm surge does and this one is not over either as rain is still falling inland.

Hurricane Sandy: Storm’s cost may hit $50B;

I'd not be too sanguine about it. Still was minor for the GTA area.

I'm likely to head to the Forks just to be ornery :D

lovely ride up = 12 not much wind and very little rain :D

tell that to the lady who got killed after she took a traffic sign to the dome...

200 kph rarely comes into a populated area and certainly not in Canada except in a tornado.

Winds got 90-100 max in gusts. That's still stuff to be careful of.
There is a house in Belfountain with a VERY large hardwood tree buried in the roof ( I mean the full trunk crushing the spine of the house ) - it just about cut the house in two. Gonna try and get pics in the morning - was too wet when I went by and didn't feel like hauling out the camera. Could not find anything on line.
But wild weather is fun - just remove the traffic please :D

Exactly what I was thinking on way to pick up my parents from the airport last night. My car would not stay straight and at first I thought the alignment was off, then I saw the tractor trailer in front of me swaying like crazy. It was wet and wild, but I was thinking "no traffic, full leathers, I think I could pull this **** off" but I dunno...The way you'd get blown around you'd need the whole highway to yourself.

It was a Staples sign. It didn't blow far. I went there yesterday. It landed right beside the pole. It's a good 10 ft wide by 5ft tall or so with a thick steel frame. Probably the weight of it that killed her more than any kind of speed it had from the wind.

kinda weird on the radar - looks like Sandy remains is right over us. Toronto is just about the centre of the slow rotation

Do you go anywhere other then the forks? You've mentioned the forks a million times in this thread.

sometimes he goes to Erin

sometimes I go to Australia too, or Iceland or Norway or Quebec or James Bay or South Africa...lots of places I go sometimes....

I ride as close to 12 months of the year as I can - Erin for burgers is a good thing - Steen's Dairy.
Planet Bean is another hangout off Victoria Road in Guelph- good access to Twiss and Campbellville.

here and there , here and there....why are you reading this and not out riding? Do YOU go anywhere? :D

Should have stopped yesterday when the whole tree was buried into the roof and no tarp on it.
Tree the size of the one behind came down during the night. Trying to get some pics from the people that live there.

The house goes back quite a ways and the main trunk was buried into the peak of of the front section and overhanging the yard so it must have really crushed the back.

thought it was a hardwood but actually a willow which makes more sense - not much holding them.
Girl here who knows them said they were talking about it at a party trying to find someone to take it down.
Well....it's down.
