Sandy comes aknockin'

Julz - you're the one stating you don't understand it.

It's purely comfort level for conditions. It's not proving anything - I just enjoy it = I shake my head at the guys out there on bicycles - there was ONE today out in the middle of nowhere. I ride a fair bit at night as well - many don't. I have a lot of upfront protection on the Exec and comfortable warm gear, excellent rubber on.
I would not ride below freezing when it's wet tho I used to.
The bike is too big and has no traction - even in sand or mud but it's solid in the wet and the wind. As someone else mentioned its harder when stopped -

I do NOT however enjoy traffic at all....one reason I'd rather ride at 2 am than 2 pm. MIght be an interesting night as there is a full moon and maybe a clear sky - go poke around the escarpment.

What would be cool is to do a run to Hutch's Fish and Chips and look at the surf. ( almost got killed in that surf when I was still kayaking ).

My power just knocked out and came back on. I thought someone put a hit on me :(
Winds are crazy out there. Be careful

Power went out a second time in Scarboro. It is back on

That's impressive wind speed for steady

Well that was fun...winds were howling all night long and thankfully not much damage around my area...unfortunately my car roof took a branch hit and now I've got to deal with a minor dent. So now need to find a dent repair guy...suggestions?

Sis reported in this morning from Jersey, power's out, the streets are rivers, and Hoboken was flooded from both ends...she hasn't gone down to the garage yet because it's inaccessible but hopefully the car's not a write off.
Hope everyone here and theirs kept safe last night!

The water level there covered a fire hydrant shortly after this pic was taken....and there was a car floating through the street.

Alright I can't upload the picture because it's over quote by 4.8kB ... after 8 attempts at shrinking it down. How do I get to add more pics!?

Upload photos to photobucket . com and link them in

LOL, that's nuts.

Where are they guys who say they wanted to experience a hurricane?

Hurricane? This is a joke. CNN doesn't even have enough news to report on and keeps running the same lame damage stories every 30 minutes.

Yup - 9 degrees out and nice riding day.
Some wind damager here and there.

The thing with Sandy was the size and storm surge and there ARE 7 million without power....so no minor thing

I bought some gas for my car even though it was half full. That's about all the preparations I made.

Drove me nuts trying to get groceries yesterday to make dinner. The store was packed with people stocking up for the apocalypse or something.

Then I told my gf she was being silly by telling me I shouldn't go out later to go get some snacks. But someone was killed in my area by flying debris so maybe she was right. I'll just wear the full face helmet and be fine, heh.

tal; about exaggeration...I drove to work today and shook my head the whole time wishing I was on my bike.

Nature put on a nice show last night though not enough to keep the bike at home this morning. My wife was at Walmart yesterday afternoon and people were panicking over the "mammoth storm and Toronto being shut down". Right.

It's 9 degrees and sunny out- moderate winds - time to go riding :D - I think the cold front not too far away.

this kinda nasty

Beautiful weather for the ride in today - I was getting uncomfortably warm. All morning the traffic report was great - Gardiner EB lighter than usual. That lasts until I leave home of course, because there's always some left lane knob that will run into the back of someone else. Despite the brilliant weather, it took me twice as long as usual. And I only saw three other bikes when I parked.

This!
Some of the best rides I've had have been at 2-3 in the morning. Can't sleep, so I roll the bike down the street a bit, start it up and go.

Nothing like having the road to yourself and heading back in as everyone is just starting to get out. Try it when you get the chance!
