Rogers Credit Card

I'm not as big fan of Rogers, but I've used them for 30+years for internet access in Mississauga as they have always had a good price. Latest deal is 1.5 GB download, unlimited, for $60/m, $67.80 with HST. I buy nothing else from Rogers, just internet.

I really don't need 1.5 GB speed and would be happy with 150 or 250 MBPS, but Rogers' contrived pricing puts this over $100/m so the 1.5 GB is a better deal.

Neighbor mentioned that Rogers cashback credit card pays 2% on all transactions, but this base rebate is grossed up by 1.5 to net 3% when applied to Rogers' services. Which is actually a great deal.

We use zero cash and pay everything by credit card. So every month I redeem the full $67.80 for my Rogers bill and use the balance of the 2% rebate to apply to other charges.

If you have all of, or a combo of, Rogers cable + internet + cell services then the 3% rebate would be great value.

I could have been taking advantage of this for years, but you don't know what you don't know.

I applied online and got approval in a few days.

I don't think there is anything special about the card, anyone with a decent credit score should have no issue. In 45 years of credit card use I've paid exactly zero in interest. I always pay off my card monthly so they're not making any extra money off of me.

I'm what the CC industry calls a deadbeat. I pay off my bills every month and haven't paid CC more than $5 CC debt in my life. I probably wouldn't qualify.

I'm also a deadbeat with a close-to-perfect credit score, and I qualified. I think they care more about your total household income more than anything else.

Around now (BF) and Christmas/Boxing Day they usually come out with some pretty good deals. This time last year I signed a 2 year contract for 2 Mbps at $60/mo. They also gave me a $50 account credit and then I get the extra 3% cash back from the credit card. When it expires next year, I expect similar "best offers of the year" to be available, so I shouldn't have to beg for a one-off deal through retentions (why I originally avoided Rogers).
