Registering/insuring car with "rebuilt" title

I'm looking to purchase a new car soon, and found one with a rebuilt title at a dealership (dealer has shown me pics of the previous damage etc). I know this means its an accident car, but for my purposes, its fine. My question is, would it be any different getting insurance on a vehicle with this title? How about registering it at the MTO? Anything special about rebuilt titled vehicles other than resale value?

I'm assuming the dealership is outside of Ontario? AFIK (I could be wrong) but you can only register clean title vehicles in Ontario at least for street use.

Should not be an issue rebuilt cars are fine just not motorcycles. Many rebuilt cars never drive normally again after being totalled and rebuilt. Talk to your insurance company to be sure.

If it's already branded and rebuilt, it's like buying any other clean title vehicle.
Safety paper, emissions test and off you go to the MTO and get it plated. Insurance wouldn't be a problem.
A rebuilt vehicle will always be considerably cheaper than a clean title car in the same year/make/model/mileage...
I wouldn't buy it personally if I was in the market for a car but it's your call.
If you insist on this particular vehicle, take it to a body shop and make sure the frame is straight, etc...
Some cars are just never the same after a major accident.

What are the specs of this car?... price?

I believe that every car must go through a test to ensure that the frame is straight before the MTO will even change the brand from "Salvage" to "Rebuilt".

My father owns a rebuilt vehicle, and never had an issue getting insurance on it. I don't think you will have any problems. In the event of a write-off, the branding will almost certainly be considered when determining the fair market value of the vehicle (i.e. settlement). For example, your "Brand=REBUILT" 2009 Mercedes C300 might give you a settled value of $17,000 where as a "Brand=NONE" 2009 Mercedes C300 might fetch you $25,000 (numbers pulled out of nowhere).

Make sure you check out all the VIN locations on the car and if you find ANY irregularities, RUN. Rebuilds can sometimes lead to evidence of a re-VIN which is a result of a stolen or chopped car.
