real wheel stand up stand. what brands are good?

Most are decent best is Pit Bull

lot of good brands, best is PitBull

I absolutely agree with CafeRay. There seems to be some sort of Bike Stand Snob Fest in the area. It's just some metal that holds a couple of hundred pounds off the ground.
Whether it's made by 5 year old boys in China or Ferrari labs, it will support your bike, no worries.

Many places will ship them to your house. I got a spoolless one from kapscomoto and my spool one is from Canadian tire. Both work just fine and both were dirt cheap. I have never used the front one on either set btw.

Cheap stands are enough to get the job done but they flex and warp pretty easily. Pitbulls are 100% solid and you can even lean off the bike once its on the stands. Both grades of stands have their place in my garage. I use my pitbull when I need to have the bike put away for a while. Peace of mind more than anything else... especially when my bike is a behemoth :p

It's a bike stand...not rocket science, you can overpay for some tubing pretty easily.

Here's a decent one out of alloy, $49. You can get a front stand too.

Sounds like neither of you have used a good stand. I don't own a pitbull...yet.

For a track bike, which potentially spends 300 days a year on a rear and front stand, a Pit Bull is a preferred option for me. I've had others fail on me. You can overpay and underpay for everything. I wasted the price of a Pit Bull getting to a Pit Bull.

+1 I've had bikes stored on CTC stands all winter for years. Any strong enough stand will work fine(even home made ones), it's working with it that might be a deciding factor. I sold my CTC rear stand cause I have a Hindle one that converts from spool to swingarm style. It is lighter than the CTC one, so easier to haul around. Store and maintain my bike on the CTC front stand...modified of course.

I use the $49 stand, three years. I put it under the swingarm, the bike doesn't fall down. Like magic.

Maybe a Pitbull has wifi and bluetooth.

They all hold a bike up, it's just the ease at which they get it there and on uneven surfaces or if there's debris near the tires the better stands do it with less hassle. I've been using the cheap stands for a couple years now too but when I've used the pit-bull stands the difference is noticeable. For a street bike that gets stored or just put up to lube a chain then anything will work, do it 15 times in a day and you appreciate good equipment. If I can get through a season without spending a small fortune I'll be picking up a set as well as their trailer restraint.

With my race bike on stands everyday for a minimum of 18 hours a day, and some nice shiny bits like ohlins forks, attack triples etc etc, I'm not trusting my stuff to some ****** $75 stands. I've used the $75 set, the mid range set and pit bulls/ woodcrafts. There is a noticeable difference in stability on the stands. If its up for a winter and not moving/ working on it then go for the cheapy's. I personally wouldn't trust a bike worth many times the cost of the stands to some cheapy's. spend a couple extra bucks and get a good, quality set where the company will stand behind their product down the road.
