An '81 750F isn't just some generic early 2000's plastic shrouded beginners bike. It's old and from a completely different era. That means a lot to a lot of people. You might be one of those some day. If it's not a burden, keep it. Especially if you've developed a real relationship with it, ask any older rider about bikes they wished they'd never sold. It's a sad old story.

When I get to wishing I still had a few of my original collection I get over it quickly as I look at the vastly improved and much newer machinery. I have my memories and still creating new ones every year. Still though.......................

LOL, ya you caught me in the big lie. I had a pretty trick Z1 and CB750 but honestly wouldn't be so thrilled about riding them now. Be kinda neat to toodle around from time to time but would serve no practical purposes. I like what I have now. Those are keepers
I'd keep it. If you've got the room why not? It's not like your going to get $5000 for it. Keep it for a bit and if you eventually decide you want to get rid of it your going to get the same amount in 2-3 years as you would if you sold it tomorrow.

To get vintage insurance do you not need an appraisal? Insurance broker that gave me my policy mentioned that one does need an appraisal and it limits how often you can "ride" the bike

yes u need a appraisal, and they have lightened up lot on how many KM /yr can ride. But lets face it, I ride it but not that much, there pieces of history to me, and yes they used to be/still r , daily riders to some point.
Well, I just sold my old bike. It needed some work. So I went ahead and bought a different bike. I never got the chance to repair old bike, and I'm having way too much fun on the new bike. Realistically, I would never ride the old bike. And I would never set aside time to work on her.
Congrats on the new bike. As some have said, if you have the room...just keep it. You don't really have to insure it unless you plan to ride it. Personally, I would have loved to have kept every one of many previous bikes.
My opinion is to keep both for a couple of months and if you find that you aren't using one or the other sell it. Storing a bike that isn't being used leads to it becoming scrap metal (gummed up carbs rotted tires etc.) If you aren't using it sell it and get the most value you can for it it will usually only go down in value as it sits.

Rode it home today. So hard to ride it under 6000 rpm for the next 1000 kms. I can tell my suspension needs setting up but during the break in it shouldn't be a problem. So easy to ride as well. So let's bring on the spring and get this party started!
