It's a locker room thing. Way back I played competitive men's hockey, we had a gay couple on the team, it was kept quiet. At a tourney, an opposing team discovered them. Lets say it was a tought chirpy game.
As a peace offer, the next morning our team left a few dozen donuts and coffee outside their dressing room.
Before we left the arena, we taped a Polaroid team pic (our team) to their dressing room door. In the pic we were all wearing their donuts on our Timbits.
