Pictures of parked cars

once again, pictures or it did not happened!

Ha, tough crowd.

So I guess the general consensus is no.

FYI, no I dont prefer to park where my bike might be hit (?)

As I enter my 7th season, and continue to cultivate a healthy mistrust of all things on 4 wheels in the city of Toronto, I find myself taking pictures of the license plates of parked cars that could potentially hit me as they leave. I know this is a bit paranoid, but it would be nice to have some sort of lead should I ever return to a capsized bike. Anyone else do this or anything else on the cautious side to try to fend off evil cagers?

This mistrust is well founded, though I don't think a photo will do. I'd try two motion sensor cameras pointing to the cars. If and when they move, you get your shot. An infrared or echo proximity sensor coupled with the wail of your horn MIGHT get their attention before they do damage.

HAHAHA YESS!!

I do this too! Forever alone...I THINK NOT!

I do feel a bit more secure by getting pics of plates of the cars next to me even though I probably cannot prove they hit me. I also mainly do it when I'm dt or in tight spots.

I would totally do this, lol. And while I sense sarcasm its actually not a bad idea - basically an alarm system that takes photos, perhaps emailing them before a bike could be stolen or damaged. I could see people using something like this.

Hang on...you park your motorcycle near a car that could potentially hit your bike while parked....and you take a picture of the parked car?

Why wouldn't you just park in a safer spot?

Even parked in a "safe" spot; it can happen. Happened to me today; at a motorcycle shop of all places. Buddy backed up his car, didn't look to see what was behind him and hit the rear tire of my bike, knocking it over causing damage to my bike. At least he didn't run. Too many witnesses I guess. Insurance is now my friend (his insurance that is!). I will admit; I didn't take pictures of the cars around me when I parked though. My bad apparently.

Having had my bike knocked down years ago, I understand the OP's concern. After having replaced both turn signals and battery all was good. I soon forgot the incident and went on with my life...

Chill dude... worry once it happens....

this made me recall a Black Sabbath song.... Paranoid

There seems to be an assumption that I am obsessing about whether my bike will be knocked over. I'm not, like everyone has said here its a real concern. It takes two seconds to pull out the phone and snap a shot. I really dont see this is as overly excessive, although I appreciate why people dont do it themselves. With regards to it doing anything in terms of justic -. I agree probably not much, but its something rather than nothing. A license plate together with a witness seeing a "white van" or something could reasonably assist in finding someone imo.
