Pickup Trucks

I’m gonna get flamed for this but picked up some H&R lowering sport springs for the Maverick. 1.5-2” drop will help it ride a bit stiffer and sportier.

Always had a thing for small trucks with a slightly lowered suspension. Was loving the old S10, Rangers, and Mazda B trucks when I was younger. The Maverick reminds me of those smaller trucks I fell for as a youth.

Big shoutout to @Wingboy for helping me get it in Waterloo and was a pleasure to sit and chat after all these years chatting online.

Yet again GTAM shows how good people can be in this community (and honourable mention to @oioioi for telling me Rick lives there).

Rick you can blame him for me bothering you
Will likely improve mpg a smig as well.

Maybe...but I am looking forward to the firmer ride.

I considered sway bar upgrades also front and rear...but that's TBD.
Another option is raising tire pressure a bit more than your door jam sticker states. Just keep it under the tires max pressure and measure both hot and cold. Do a chalk test when you pick a pressure.
I run 38psi whereas my sticker calls for 35. Well within the max tire pressure.

I never understood why body on frame is a better design for trucks than unibody. Is just because of costs, since a unibody could be made to handle the same towing capacity and given suspension to offset the need for the body/frame to flex on gnarly uneven surfaces?

For a grocery getter pickup… unibody. Handle better, lower bed and passenger compartment, less expensive to build.

Pickups are made with frames for heavier towing, off road capability, and overload tolerance. They are also easier to repair when crashed. Pickups also need a lot of modification flexibility… plows, lift gates, suspension mods — all difficult on a unibody.

That'll buff right out...
Glad you're alright 😊

Congrats on the new truck you’ll be getting

It will be fixed, looks worse than it is with only 35k....I was hit in the perfect spot imho. I work in the industry, although I would like to order new truck for 4.30 gears over my existing 3.73's but don't want to wait months for new. Need the truck as its used in summer mostly for towing up to my Mattawa property.

The insurance won’t likely put it in the estimate and will pull it at the adjustable but I would really insist on a four wheel alignment being done when the repair is finished. They will tell you it’s not required . I was in body repair in a previous life , it’s required because knuckleheads like me fixed your truck .
