My bike is Suzuki GSX 650 F 2008. I wanted to get acharger and a weather/water proof mount for the phone.

I go out riding allday and half way through or just on the way back, my phone's battery is almostdead. In order to avoid that, I thought it would be nice if I have a chargerfor it. I was also thinking of the mount so that I can also use it as a gps.

I looked into RAMmount. While they are good, I'm not sure if they provide a water proof cover aswell.
Can anyone pleasesuggest/share what kind of phone mounts they use on their bikes. Also what sort of USD chargers do you use? Isit weather/water proof.

Thanks

P.S. before youstart thinking/commenting that I might use the phone while riding, I DON'T. Iam strongly against it. In fact, I have apps that disable incoming callswhen riding. Just thought I'll post it in advance to savesome forum space.

I use a ram mount, and been very happy with it. Occasionally if I get an unexpected rain i'll just grab it and stuff it in my jacket. Though a zip loc bag probably would work on a day when I know i'm going to get wet.

I tried this idea, didn't work for me.

Using a top tree mount meant looking down to much for GPS Nav, and you can't use the phone because of gloves. Also had trouble with sunlight on the screen. I felt like it was way too distracting figuring out what was going on the screen.

I ended up using a GPS Nav app with good audio instructions and one ear bud. Phone is safe and dry in inside pocket, works well. I use the Waze app, which is nice because in addition to directions, audio gives you road hazard and upcoming traffic and police warnings in real time (not the MTO data delay). Turn directions count down from 200 meters.

The link below is what I use, it works great and is weatherproof. You didn't specify the phone type so I just copied the iPhone one, but they make it for other phones as well. They sell them at Royal.

**EDIT**

This is what I use for charging, its waterproof when not being used and it comes with a little boot for your USB cable to make it waterproof as well. Haven't had a single issue with it and was easy as hell to install.

That's impressive. How does it get the police warnings? Do you pay for it?

I bought the Tom tom app for my phone and it works fine i.e. no insane data charges if you end up travelling to the US.

I saw a few covers on ebay/amazon.

I was thinking of getting this.

OR

Get a RAM mount and use that along with the following.

Any tips/comments are welcome.

When its time to get a new phone which will be an iPhone when the new ones come out I will be picking up one of these http://www.mophie.com , no point in getting one now as it probably wont fit the new one. I do like that stem mount but agree with CafeRay, the glare may be too much plus always looking down might not be so good.

Velcro on the tank and on the back of the phone. Buy a cheap phone case that is quick to snap on and bobs your uncle.

For the charging just get a USB charger and a cable, similar like a car charger and wire it to the battery and just wire it into the fuse box so it turns off when your bike is off.

all this should cost like 50 bucks

if you dont want to be distracted by your phone while riding just keep the charger and phone in your trunk. its easy to be distracted if the phone is mounted in the same area as your instrument cluster

Another vote for techmount. I had a small issue and they sent me out more replacement parts then were actually required for free.

I have a lifeproof case for my iphone, they sell a handle bar mount for the case that works well and is simple.
Move it over from my motorcycle o my mountain bike in less then a min

Waze is user based data. Other Waze users contribute data as they are driving by simple button presses. This means you get warnings in real time, from someone just up the road from you. Traffic, accidents, police, cars stopped by road, red light cameras, road hazards. Plus the navigation will reroute you based on real time traffic.
at any time, you can see other waze users on the display, there are hundreds of people at any given time. The app is free, was bought by Google last year.
You just pay for data from your phone service, but it uses far less data than Google maps.
