off duty cop tries to run me off the road for lane filtering....

Two wrongs don't make a right Paul, especially when one wrong is low-speed filtering stopped traffic, and the other is using your vehicle dangerously to intimidate other drivers, and put them in situations that could result in an accident.

Well there's a difference between what the rider did and what the driver did. If a driver want's to come in my lane, spit using my lane, whatever, it's cool. Cutting off is not cool.

I'm not agreeing with what the cop did...The OP shouldn't have done what he did either....

Two lanes going west....1 bike in each lane at a red light waiting to go.....and a car comes up straddling the yellow line in between them.....would that be acceptable? Or would it upset you?
 
The last time I had a run in with an off duty cop; when the cop was in the vehicle. The cop was screaming at me and berating me; I simply opened my bottle off water and dumped it all over the cops face, and told the cop to cool down and F*** off. The cop responded if I was in uniform I would arrest you, I responded I would drop you before you got out the car.

OP next time your in this situation just flip him the bird.
 
The majority of motorcyclists shouldn't be behind a set of handlebars, yet doing so immediately makes them an expert at navigating traffic.
 
A long time ago some biker had a conniption fit when I opened and closed my door, because the lock wasn't latched properly.
I was stopped at a red light at the time. Where was he going to go? Through the red light? What was his hurry that he couldn't wait a few seconds?
Best part is after he's done he drops something on the ground and tries to retrieve it from the other lane during the green light.
I suppose I shouldn't have laughed at him as he was in a very dangerous situation, but I couldn't help it.
After that I just automatically rank anyone foolish enough to split or filter in the too stupid to live bucket and move on.
Sooner or later you will run into someone who takes offence at the way you drive your bike, even if you are 100% by the book.
You need to expect it and allow for it.

Anyway since I don't split or filter I believe that I can rant about it. @$#%#$@#$! lol

No, the analogy is fine as is.

-OP does something we all know is illegal.
-Off duty cop stops him (in a questionably unsafe manner) and tells him to knock it off or he's getting a ticket.
-OP comes here and bitches about a cop being a jerk because he got stopped for doing something illegal.

Oh noes! I was breaking the law and got a stern talking to! Here comes the whaaaaambulance.

I've had someone show me their paramedic badge telling me they were a cop. I called them on it and they took off quickly. I'd say that's what happened to you.

If lane splitting were legal, and if I still rode street, the last place i'd choose to lane split is in the GTA. Seriously, if you lane split in this great metropolis of ours you should expect to wake up surrounded by Paramedics. If you're lucky.

I kinda agree with the Reciprocity comment but i have to say it isn't all their fault. To get an M1 you have to get 16 out of 20 in a sit down test and have decent eyesight.
