Not worth the risk

I usually don’t go out on long weekends and thought today most of those travelling would have left by now. Stayed on secondary roads and only one tool that coasted at a stop sign making a right into my lane but I expected to be cut off.
After 2 hours headed home. I was hoping to grab the photo tag but someone was earlier and moved it even further south west

It felt good to be out in the heat.
 
I'd say the trails are safer, but then you get the long weekend yahoos drunk while hooning around on ATVs and dirtbikes.

I almost got broadsided a couple of hours ago by a little kid on a tiny Husqvarna dirtbike barreling down a hill, unable to stop!

Don't think he was drunk though...

In my 10 minute commute, I see at least two very stupid and dangerous drivers actions. The inpatients and aggressive behavior is what always concerns me.
The only riding I did was either on my tractor or zero-turn and I'm ok with that.
 
I don't usually ride on weekends and definitely don't ride on long weekends. Far too much traffic and too many citiots on the roads up here. The benefit of being retired is I can ride on weekdays when the traffic is light and my favourite roads are nearly empty.
 
It is getting worse every year and is a contributing factor to me selling the bike.

Wife, kids, family, etc all need me around and while I love riding (for the most part), it’s currently not worth the risk for me.

I’ve been fortunate for close to 15 years of riding with no major issue, but I could see my wife start worrying the night before a long ride and felt it’s not fair to her either.

Maybe when the kids get a bit older and don’t need me so much.

Still looking at bikes…just more casually.

Have you thought about track days, or dirt. No cars to avoid.

Yes I have. Dirt doesn't really appeal to me. Track sounds like stupid (yet very expensive) fun.

I'd like to find a weekend to try the race weekend in Grand Bend, but just need to find the time as I think it would be a riot and lots of positives from what I've read around here.

They've announced a local safety meeting to deal with road issues in our area.

I like where I live but brain washing has taken its toll. The area has its cutesy name and while a tiny bit upscale it isn't Rosedale, Forest Hill or Bayview and the Bridal Path.

Too many residents have copped the self entitled attitude that their crap doesn't stink. It's everyone else.

They speed, fail to stop legally, make illegal turns and generally drive like undisciplined slobs. Then they buy their sub teen kids e-scooters and let them ride the sidewalks. Now they want a meeting to discuss road safety for their kids.

They are concerned that people don't care about their children.

Who else doesn't care about their children? The other eight billion people on the planet.
 
I grew up in the west end, before all that, (south of the village of Islington) which is why I was curious about it. (y)

If you give up street, the money you save on insurance can be used to pay for track days quite easily. Motorcycle trailers can be rented for less than $40/day at U-Haul.

Or buy some ramps for your Mav:

Nothing special needed for your bike as well, lots of people run what they brung with little-to-no modification for track.
