What people don't get, is that just by being there in the area when you didn't need to be, and you KNEW what the police were dealing with (I was on some mountain top in the desert on the other side of the world and I knew it) then you are, in fact supporting these few violent protesters.
And by posting here on the forum, you are indirectly supporting the oil industry, which supports the global banks, which profit from wars that kill innocent civilians by propping them up fake debt that they create out of thin air.
Just as plausible a comment, only mine is more on-message with what the protesters were THERE FOR.
The cops were way over tasked, and the good, peaceful, law abiding people should have LEFT when ASKED so the cops didn't have to deal with their BS and they could get down to looking after the real problem.
Better yet, we should all just bow down and lick their heels. They know what's best for everyone and will keep us safe, after all; though it might take a thorough unprovoked beating to get the message across, they're all really nice guys!
People need to take a wide look at crap from the other side's perspective.
The side that people were deliberately there to protest?
Did innocent people get arrested? Sure they did, but I saw more than enough youtube videos of idiots being in the face of cops, spitting on them, calling them names, poking their fingers in the officers chest and the cop just saying "please move along" and giving people more than their share of warnings. Don't want to be falsely arrested and maybe roughed up a bit? DON'T put yourself in that position and let them do their freakin' jobs!
Or better yet, DO put yourself in that position to protest (that's what they were there for???) the fact that governments are operating in lockstep with globalized companies and global banks, and members of the G20 were there expressly to put pressure on Canada for its resources. So, since you like to crow about how everyone needs to "consider the other side," maybe you should consider for yourself that the protesters saw the cops for exactly what they were at the G20: hired muscle to keep the debt-slaves and the unwashed dependents from getting too close to the Oligarchs. Take that out for a spin. See how it feels.
I'm NOT a police lover, I think there are too many rules we need to follow as it is, but sometimes people are just clueless.
If you're really not, you do a fantastic job of resembling one on this subject, at least.
Not sure what his issue was, but he was there, making his statement, and not causing any issue while doing so... And there wasn't a cop in sight because he was playing by the rules.
The thing you're missing about this, is that a lot of people were trying to do just that... and the cops were on top of them with force, threatening them unlawfully, demanding identification unlawfully, searching unlawfully, arresting unlawfully, beating people illegally, making up "the law" as they went and treating the citizens like dirt - many of whom were not even part of the protest.
Defend that, and all your other arguments are hot air.
