New and Old Rider Here

If you go to wikipedia and look for a bobber you get this incomplete virtually unridable bike that is a recent interpretation, not a real period correct Bobber motorcycle: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/27/BSAbobber.jpg note that it has no fenders, somebody destroyed the front fork springs, no air cleaner or muffler, no lights, no brakes ... should I continue  is a pretty long list of why that photo shows a complete waste of an engine if it runs.

The only "bobber" I would consider would be a factory-made one like Triumph's:

They aren't my thing but that's a pretty good looking bike. But they're not inexpensive...

OP

if you haven't bought anything yet, I may have a bike of some interest
2003 Vulcan 800, bone stock and mint, 24k km
I bought it last year and have the cruiser itch scratched

most likely going to acquire a Caponord Rally shortly
so the Vulcan would be surplus

it would be priced around $2500 cert. and needs absolutely nothing
shines and rides like new
let me know if your'e interested

Welcome OP.

You mentioned originally liking the R6 and over time and recently getting M2, that thought of a bobber.

Personally, I’d seriously consider an R3.

Great bike. Not a bobber but, good range in ability, comfortable, good looking. Not bad in insurance.

If it’s bobber or cruiser, I’d keep my eyes on a Vulcan 500.

I just don’t like “custom” bobbers.

Good luck and enjoy the hunt!

Caponord? Don't sell the Vulcan! The cardinal rule for owning an Italian car or bike is to have a dependable Japanese backup in the garage.

Wow already tired of the cruiser after one year, what happened?
When do you get the new ride?

I think it's just this cruiser is not the right one
It's not good for more than a few hours a day
basically it's a Jap Sportster

working out west for a bit
there's a mint Aprilia that I'm gonna buy
if it's still available when I get back in a week and a half

Thanks for posting that! It certainly looks great and I may circle back in the near future as I am still on the lookout and working through options. What are you hoping to replace it with out of curiosity? What is the new itch? haha

Thanks for the post and the insight. A buddy of mine had a sport bike recently stolen unfortunately and I was looking forward to riding it a couple of times to see how it felt, but I like the idea of trying the R3 as well. What makes you say Vulcan 500?
