How is this place? What's the surface like? I saw some videos and some of the areas look fairly narrow. How is it for middleweight bikes? Is it worth doing a trackday here over cayuga/shannonville (nelson/fabi)?

I'd almost say surface is worse than smp/tmp. Tight little track with elevation changes so it's a different track than those two.

If I was going there I would just go to the big track. Saying that I did do two tds there with my street bike and it was fine (minus pegs).

ewww.

Not for long. July 27th they are permanently closing the neighboring oval track (they share a parking area) . The RDT track as we know it will be no more and combined with the new area a new proper road course will be built. Word has it 3km or so and elevation changes and proper pit space. In other words a usable track that we can actually race on :) Cant wait already spoke to management about SOAR being there in 2014.

Wow! That sounds awesome, Ken. I've never ridden the RDT because the reviews always made it sound like a waste of time, but a new one would no doubt be a lot better.

I went there this past Sunday. Four corners were in really bad shape. It's not a very fast track but by the end Of the 2 hour day I was moving. The rough roads I got used to but I'd prefer tmp by far. (I've only been to tmp and mosport rdt tho)

Does this mean they are building the track with motorcycles in mind? Good news if they are.

I was by there on Monday, resurfacing is complete on Boundary Rd. (West of 35), Mosport Rd. and Concession 10. It used to be that the roughest part of the trip getting to Mosport was the last 1/2 mile.

Everywhere you look, good things are happening at Mosport.

The 20 minute drive to Mosport would be sweet. :)

My wife would actually come out to spectate......hmm maybe that's not a good thing ;)

The rumour is that the big track will be reserved for BIG scale events only and not available for weekend rentals (assuming that they can draw the big events but they are off to a good start) the new track will be the one available for rentals. Which is good for me in any case as I have been unable to get a Mosport weekend since we started in 09. I have been assured by Myles that the new track will be bike friendly. I guess time will tell and we will see if it gets priced out of reach. At least as far as SOAR is concerned fees have to be scaled or its out of our reach. We will see.
