Missing an Amazon package?

Crazy these areas get cleaned up regularly and still look like a train line somewhere in the east. Out of police jurisdiction so the rail companies left to enforce the law. I am in a Hamilton neighborhood watch group on facebook and almost every single day someone is posting a picture or video from their doorbell camera asking if anyone knows the thief of their package.
The rail company can afford big crews to go in and clean up this huge mess regularly but cant afford more officers? Maybe it is one of those political issues where they just let it go in fear of the news outlet painting them in a bad light for being too hard on the homeless. Reading in the twitter comments looks like the ones who get caught stealing are released within 24 hours.

From what I understand, California doesn't prosecute theft under $950 anymore, so nothing the police or anyone can do. I doubt many of the people stealing are homeless... since it looked like tvs getting pulled out of one of the containers.

If someone stole your $950 BBQ from your backyard here do you think there would be a police presence investigating? How about the bikes stolen every year from parking garages?

IIRC a member had something stolen, possibly a purse, and the police attitude was "Don't bother us"

Reporting a theft to the police gets you an occurrence report number that lets you make an insurance claim. Rates go up in general.

Politicians send cops to radar locations because investigating crime takes money while the radar traps make money

Big enough $$$ item and they'll even investigate *you* for possible insurance fraud.

When we reported our truck missing, they sent two cops over to our house. I thought "Wow, they're really taking it seriously!"

And then they started grilling and cross-interrogating us:

"So you said you were out shopping, right?"
"No, we told you were out for dinner."
"Right, right."

They were there on behalf of the insurance company. They didn't give a damn about recovering the vehicle on our behalf.

It was when they stated asking about our monthly payments, and I told them it was a pre-paid lease, they looked at each other, got up and left immediately.

F*ckers.

Wow! The insurance company gave a damn? I thought they used every theft as an excuse to raise rates.

What if the insurance companies were doing the thefts to make people take out more insurance at higher rates...nah, I trust them. ;)

Either the insurance company or the finance company.

My guess was the insurance co, because the fi would have known our lease was paid up and the only one out of pocket for the loss would be me.

Also may have been a bit of profiling as well. Young guy, high-end-truck, probably can't afford the payments...

My mom was telling me the other day she has the opposite problem. She regularly receives packages not intended for her, miss delivered by Amazon. She has tried returning them, calling them etc, but still keep showing up now and then. 1 time she opened one just for curiosity, it was a hair salon type product. 🤷‍♂️

One of my Amazon packages has been in Canada Post limbo since December 26th.

Amazon had a message saying that if the package hadn't been delivered by Jan 13th, I could contact the seller and apply for a refund.

Jan 14th rolls around and I send a message to the seller. Less than 30 minutes later, Canada Post contacts me and tell me they found the package and it'll be delivered in two days.

Its only when someone other than the consumer is about to lose money that fires get lit under butts.

Package was probably sent to @sburns mother's place. I'm running low on hair care products...

I have had packages show up the day after getting a refund from Amazon. For a while Canada Post was playing the don't bother trying to deliver game just leave the notification. Call Canada Post and they say it is against policy but they aren't going to do anything. I would just report them as undelivered to Amazon and they would send a new one using a different shipper. Looks like they don't bother using CP at all anymore around here.

Sent using a thumb maybe 2
