Market Check: Ninja 250 2008-2011

I am currently in the market for a 250 Ninja in Black.

I have seen the market range for an 09 from 3,000 to 5,000 and 4,000 - 5,000 for a 10/11

Given this range what would a reasonable price be?

In ads, people normally list as "never been dropped" but when I ask them over the phone I get "dropped in low speed". I am not too particular about cosmetic damage as I am sure I will drop my bike eventually.

But is it actually worth getting a bike used when I can get brand new 2011 for under 5,000 (the ask price of an 09)

I recently bought an '09 250R
Mileage: 2800km
Condition: Perfect; not one scratch. Mechanically is perfect also.
Mods: None. Even has the ****** stock black fender piece which I need to remove ASAP.
Price: $3900 with the safety.

Overall, I think I got a really good deal from the buyer. The others I was looking at were in the $4000-$4200 range with significantly more mileage or some cosmetic damage. One thing to note is that you have to pay tax on it when registering if you buy it used; so it came to about $4200 with the tax (yes, I'm a newb and told them the real price).

Btw, where did you see it offered for $5000 new?

Where did you see this brand new 2011 Ninja for under $5000? And if you're talking about $4999 is under $5000, please tell me you're kidding. A brand new one goes for $5000 + tax + other fees which comes up to about $6000. I suggest going with a used one for under $4000. I just checked Kijiji and I saw a red one with 7800km for $3800 and a black one with 11k km for $3600. And there's no big difference between an 08-09 one vs a 10-11 one. And I'm assuming its your first bike, I'm sure you don't wanna drop a BRAND NEW bike and lose out on all the depreciation on it.

Good luck.

Just because you paid the full tax amount doesn't mean you're a noob. It just shows you're an honest person who likes to give the government you're hard earned cash. It also doesn't make the people (me) who didn't pay full tax on their bike crooks. We're just smarter and think that we give the government enough of our money. Haha

Last time I talked to a dealer they said a new bike would come to about 5300 out the door.

2008 Ninja 250R - 7700 km - $3700
- Came with replacement rear cowl
- Fender eliminator
- Lowering links
- Last owner claims bike was dropped from stand still. Fairing on dropped side was replaced with a new one. No mechanical damage. Only scuffs on the right mirror and right handle bar end.

Currently I am torn between a 2011 Ninja (no mods), 2009 Ninja - Yoshi Exhaust, fender elminator Lowering Kit, jetted carb , 2010 ninja with xena disk lock, cover, charger, etc.

All three are 4,500 have "never been dropped" and under 2,000kms.

Get the 2011 no mods or the 2010 with charger, cover etc. Don't bother with the "jetted carbs" unless you know he had it done by someone reliable.

Damn the 2011- sold, and the 2010 charge etc cant be delivered.

My girlfriend's been looking around... but all the damn ninja owners keep dropping their bikes so all the ones we see are all ****ed up!

True, would appreciate hearing the prices you paid for your new/used ninjas.

I know some 2010 have closed for 4,300 and a 2011 at 4,500 (really wish I acted)

Does this seem fair
2009: 3,800
2010: 4,200
2011: 4,500

for stock and used bikes.

I paid $3900 for 2008 250r 2 weeks ago with about 8k on it. Maybe I paid a bit higher but I was willing to so I could just start riding rather than sifting through more ads.

I have another 14 days until my insurance kicks in... nothing better to do :D

Fair, but I doubt you'll be able to attain those prices. Maybe if you shifted them up a row, it'd be more attainable.

2008: 3800
2009: 4200
2010: 4500
2011: 4xxx
