Looking at down sizing bike

Cops in the US are like here. They have the "gang" mentality. Try and bribe them and you'll get the book thrown at you. They'd rather parade you in front of their buddies for the bribe. Cops in Mexico and other third world counties tend to take bribes as they make **** wages for an extremely dangerous job. They will do anything to get by. In a third world country being a cop is actually a dangerous job, your chances of being shot/killed are great...unlike here. You're crazy if you try and bribe a cop here or anywhere in North America.

You sure? There have been news paper articles of cops getting fired for allowing a girl to go down on them.

So what if I offer to pay for the ticket on the spot? That's not bribing!

But yes I know what you are talking about. Back in my home country cops had very little to no power. I don't know wtf they were there for.

I do like the intermediates that Honda has introduced - the 500s in particular. Light, cheap to insure.
The one I want is not available here....CBR400 - but is available in Australia.
Low weight but a screamer.

+1

The Honda 500's look intriguing. I'm less inclined to tour now, so something lighter and still able to run on the highway. I think the Honda's would do it for me

Also sold my FZ1 and went to a smaller and naked bike (BMW F800R) but for different reasons, now 140kmph feels really fast :)

Really enjoying the nimble handling of the F8R around town and on the backroads.

The FZ1 was a great bike and did everything exceptionally well. I do miss it.

I made a little spreadsheet to check top speed in each gear, here's my 636:

Rip 4 gears and you're nearly 230, I guess a liter bike would be even easier! An EX500 is not a bad one, although, you'll still be well into HTA in 4 gears...

PS. I'm think 5/6 might be drag limited on this bike, I didn't really try but I hear 200kms is about the most people can get outta the bike.

I'm impressed. Your bike in 6th gear has a higher top speed by far than your bike is actually capable of. Good stuff.

A quick geography lesson: Mexico is in North America.

therefore, next time save your cash and just go down on the cop lol

Since your in PA just ride without helmet and don't crouch down, it will be difficult to breath when your going too fast. Also knowing the consequence if you go down will erase all hooliganism.

I vote for this :D

I'm happy to have a fan :p. This is obviously just based on rpms and gear ratios. To be honest, I have no idea what the 636 tops out at, I've read ~250s, I've seen videos of ~280 (authenticity, mods, gearing unknown). I think the point was that you can do serious damage in the first 2-3 gears and be well on your way to a massive ticket or vehicle seizure.

A VFR isn't much slower than a FZ1.

I went from an 03 FZ1 to a 2012 CBR 250 this year, i am trying hard to get a speeding ticket, but no luck so far.

I was gonna suggest the EX250, however a CBR250 would achieve the same thing!

you guys don't ride much then...

... cause you can easily get a speeding ticket on a 250:p

I'm on my way back down now. I went from a 1000 to a 650, and next bike will most likely be a 250 as they are a hoot.

All of my bikes have been able to climb to the speed limit reasonably quickly, and it's only beyond that where they've shown a big difference.

My current bike can carry a much heavier load than most within it's specs, and that's why I have it.

I have a first gen FZ1 too. If you want to slow down a bit make it naked. Super easy to do and you wont be cruising as fast on the highway always. Can still wick it up to 150 mph if you want to.

gorgeous bike! my Fz1 is the same color and I've considered making it totally naked

Hey I currently ride a 03 FZ1 and I am finding my self get in trouble (143mph in a 55mph) in PA nice trooper let us go with a bit of cash ..am looking at VFR 800 .any thoughts ? It's to easy with my bike to get to speed with out even thinking about it your in trouble ( I know it's called control your self ) thanks

I have the same bike and admittedly, it is very easy to go far too fast but it's all about discipline. I was recently in PA and found it quite enjoyable to be cruising at reasonable speeds. It's like a rocket powered couch! My buddies enjoyed the bike as well as it's the perfect all rounder

but if you can't control yourself, go for a 250. My wife had one and I loved riding it in the city
