Local dealer makes it difficult to get my support

There is nothing stopping a shop from setting up a website where they can direct online callers to make their orders and ship them to their door. Sadly, most shops are headed for the dust bin of history because they can't get with the plan. Gone are the days when people will go to a store, order a part, wait weeks for it on back order because the warehouse is so poorly stocked, and then be happy when they finally get it with half the riding season gone. Not when you can get it in days online, no excuses.

I used to order my OEM 650R parts from some random guy in Thailand because he'd get it to me faster, at 1/3 to 1/2 the price. His dealership had everything in stock right away while mine had it all back ordered from Kawi.

Yes Tyler from TwoWheel has been great. Never met the guy, I only ask for quotes through here and order over the phone (or to confirm the order and give CC info, IIRC they don't keep it on file for re-orders).

Quite frankly, I dont care what their policy or reasoning is. I've called shops that get high praise on this board and I've ordered over the phone with a credit card and thats why those shops get those high praises.

If the dealer wants to compete with online orders, they need to change the way they operate. If I hadn't had business in the area, I would have ordered online, which is what I will be doing next time.

likewise. Just put in an order through Canada's Motorcycle for parts. Easier to order online and shipping is fair price. Easier for me as I dont haev a lot of time to get to the local shops.

Does revzilla still charge $30+ for shipping? I'd order a ton of stuff from them but the shipping cost is a bit of a turnoff.

I get all my stuff shipped to CBI, so it's free. I go down early on a Saturday morning and bask in the gloriousness of all my cheap, quality, goods, even after taxes/duties.

Probably been scammed too many times...

I run a automotive based business and have been doing it for 10 years at this one company. In the last 3 years we have been defrauded over $10,000 through charge backs and paypal issues. Unfortunately it's a price you now have to pay to meet customers expectations. Luckily for us one of the items we were defrauded for qualified us to win a Jeep and we won! Obviously that's not the case most of the time so it comes down to having to ***** the risk. It's amazing how many people still get offended when I ask them for ID and they are picking up a $8,000 order:rolleyes:.

There has got to be some kind of solution to this, like the customer setting up an account with a business beforehand, or authorizing the transaction electronically. Because seriously, weighing stuff against "buying locally is going to waste 4 hours of my time" makes options like buying from American vendors online & picking up from CBI not only cheaper, but less time-consuming. For people within X distance of the border anyway

I have no problem showing ID to pick up my $50 in parts if thats what is needed. I also would have no problem being told that they don't accept phone orders BUT I can order online from their website. However, to be completely stonewalled and given no other option, other then to make two trips in person doesn't provide me with incentive for future orders.

You will see internet sales explode for Canada merchants just like everyone has a smart phone today compared to 5 or 10 years ago.

You won't have traditional stores. You will have "Showrooms" so you can touch, try on, sit, lay or what ever you need to validate your impression of the product and then buy on line.

But the security tech is still being developed.

Cc companies take full responsibility for face to face transactions as long as the chip and pin have been used.

There are tech solutions being developed that allow customers to use their cc and maintain the security and protect the merchant from liability of fraud.

Right now vendors are working with retailers to work out the cost and responsibility of the showrooms.

Like I said, it going to take some time but, the market will figure it out soon enough.
