Kindle Fire/tablets?

Anyone planning to get one? For 200 bucks it seems like a decent tablet. The only thing that worries me is that it only has 8GB of storage; and it isn't expandable

Are there any better alternatives? I just want something to put movies on + read & the ipad seems like overkill since I don't care for the games or apps. Above all, I just want something that works & isn't slow
 
Take a look at the Brand NEW Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" . It retails for $249US and is far superior in virtually every way.

Playbook hands down over a Kindle.
 
Acer Iconia Tab A100. 7", Gorilla Glass, Dual-Core NVIDIA Tegra2, 8GB internal + microSD card slot. Can be had for $150-$200.

I got one a month ago and love it. There's even an easy mod you can do that will swap the microSD and internal memory mount points to increase speed and allow you to install more stuff without it thinking it's out of space.

Playbook is only good if you have a Blackberry, otherwise it's pretty useless.

What do you guys really use the bridge for? I guess for viewing documents & long e-mails?

Also, how's the wi-fi on the playbook?



I just looked into the acer and it doesn't look bad at all.

Playbook all the way. For $199, its a great product at a great price.

The wife spent a few days in the hospital, and having the smaller PB kicking around was a Godsend. Small, portable, excellent screen, light weight, easy to hold with one hand.

The bridge is used to tether it to my BB. I was using my BB's internet connection to surf on my PB. Also, you can do all your emails and bbm's, etc, from your PB instead of the BB. You can use the keyboard on your BB to type on the PB, and other neat features.

At home, my PB works off my wifi. No issues to report. Smooth and fast.
 
The question is will you be using it as a book-reader or a complete tablet? Kindle gives you access to a huge library of e-books for free, so as a book reader it's most likely much better than others.

Kindle has software to read their ebooks on a tablet/computer and I've downloaded a few free ones. Doesn't look like an advantage to me.
 
You guys have me jumping from one thing to the next. I'm easily convinced since I'm really not too picky. Knowing that I can use my bb as a keyboard is a huge plus for me.

If any of you have a link on the playbook or anything else, LMK!

Honestly, I see cloud as a non-issue. I'll most likely download the book for free & buy the hard copy just to support the author. If the kindle can play flv & avi files np then it's still a contender

I was about to pull the trigger on the playbook when I decided to check if VLC works on it. And apparently, it doesn't; there also aren't any VLC-like substitutes? & people are saying that avi files don't even work on the playbook...wtf? Is there a workaround/what do you guys use?

I was set on the playbook...but that's a dealbreaker.
