True story. A friend's father owned Ford dealership in the 1950's and sold a car that had an annoying rattle that was impossible to find. After a few years the car was a write off in a collision and they bought it for parts.

In disassembling it they found a screw taped to the back of the dashboard along with a note. "Bet this drove you crazy".

I'd post some of the **** that went down on the assembly lines in the '70's /'80's, but most of it is unbelievable.

Always thought this was one of those urban myths that gets repeated over the years…not an actual true story.
