Jane Finch shooting leaves two popular teens dead

Just before 8 a.m. Friday, O’She Doyles-Whyte woke up and tweeted: “R.I.P”

The 16-year-old had been posting it every so often, a shout-out to a fallen friend, 15-year-old Tahj Loor-Walters, who had been shot at the Yorkwoods Plaza, just south of Jane St. and Finch Ave., on July 28. Walters died two weeks later.

On Friday afternoon, less than six hours after sending that tweet, Doyles-Whyte and friend Kwame Duodu, 15, were both killed, gunned down at the front entrance of a townhome in a community housing complex. Doyles-Whyte died at the scene and Duodu died later in hospital, police confirmed.

Whyte’s Twitter display name and profile were dedicated to Walters — whose friends called him “Skinny” — and another 15-year-old from the Jane and Finch area who was shot and killed in February: St. Aubyn Rodney or “Tubby.”

In the past six months, five teens have been shot and four have died within a one-kilometre radius in the Jane and Finch community. According to friends and online messages of condolence, the four teens who are now dead were all friends.

Why is it so hard to believe it was a random killing.....

Not condoning this, but compared to the number of murders that happen in any major metropolitan in US we're not that bad statistically.

Tired of this? Do some vigilante justice!

People living in these communities know where the guns, drugs, and criminals are. However their mentality is "F*** the police" and they do absolutely nothing about these problems.

Instead they glorify this nonsense and pretend that they live in a rap video. Its sad that this happened and another couple of kids lost their lives but nothing will change. The cycle will continue...

If you're clueless as to what im talking about go on youtube and watch "the real toronto"

True enough. Totally sad, pathetic and a waste of life. The only good news is that they tend to kill each other more rather than bystanders.

I suggest the CFO stop issuing gun licences & ATT's to these gang-bangers.

We are losing site of the bigger picture.
We know how these guns are getting into the country.
Why aren't they doing enough to stop it?
The problem is getting worse.
We have experienced the random shootouts at the malls already.
You or your family member could be the next statistic.

The mentality of it's just that area or let them kill each other could end up killing you.
Think about that.

Problem is, LE resources are wasted harassing lawful gun owners who aren't & never were the problem, searching for the anomalous few. It's time to get police on the street, networking with these thugs & gangbangers.

This is so true. They all think even the po-lice are out to get them or something will happen if they talk. We're not living in the boyz n the hood days anymore. Sadly not a damn thing will happen to improve areas like that

I got the quote. What is your take on the significance of it?

5 people get shot out of THOUSANDS that live in that area, and they are all friends, and we are supposed to believe that the shootings are random?

How about this for a "maybe". The little rascals were starting their own gang or turf and ran afoul of some hard mofos who didnt take that lightly...

No, random shootings would be a 40 year old woman walking home got killed by a stray bullet from a gang shootout, followed by a 30 year old mom getting shot while being mugged. Those are random as there is no connection.
