I am more curious about prolonged flight. Everything else was amazing but does nothing for me in terms of something I want in the real world. Now a car that I can fly to work in is something I would love. I live rurally and work rurally about an hour away and dream of just getting up in the morning and flying to work over the endless farmland and forests.

Someone pointed out that as soon as something leaves the ground and performs intentionally controlled flight, it's subject to FAA rules.

That's NOT a Tesla roadster. It's nothing more than vapourware. This is a Tesla roadster. The only real one, anyway. And I don't know anyone else that has actually seen one in the wild, so the scale is negligible in the grand scheme of things car.

obviously long term flight wouldnt be realistic, but imagine being able to "fly" over backed up accidents, and short bursts of bottle neck heavy trafffic.

Is it cool? Heck ya! Does it advance the evolution of transportation? Not really. It’s a lot of flash without any practical use for public roads.

Trickle down technology is a real thing, we see this in F1 all the time.

I say its all good in the end.


Scary thing is, it took Tesla 9 years to make this thing, China will copy it and make it better in 6 months or so LOL

Eberhard and Tarpenning (the REAL “founders” of Tesla) used Elise rollers to make (500ish) roadsters. At that time (‘03) Musk was nothing more than a wallet with a pulse to them.

The volume and pressure of air required would be really hard to store yet alone create (compressing air is horribly inefficient). If the videos actually happened, I suspect the battery was not in the car and it was all compressed gas tanks. Like movie cars or Nikola motors, don't let reality get in the way of a good video.
