It's A Thing Now.

whats wrong with that ?

Nothing wrong with it, just not something I can understand. When I was 16 a car meant freedom and the ability to go where I want, where I want without having to wait for friends, a bus, or my parents to be able to drive me. I paid for that freedom, and I would do it all over again.

To each their own, I'm just saying that to ME driving was a pleasure and still is. If the younger generation doesn't like to drive, or care to drive then let them do their own thing. And frankly I don't think it's only because they don't want to drive, a large reason could be that they can't afford to drive. With student debt (and stupid debt) a car is a frill that's not required. This is why Autoshare / ZipCar type of establishments are flourishing within the city.

I'd love to find a job where I don't need a second car to commute, but if I need to commute I may as well have fun while doing it. Just like I hate the fact that manual transmissions are harder and harder to find.

Millennials are just delusional entitled twerps that want a 5 Series for the cost of a Honda Fit. Can't have it.

They just want the play, without paying. They think that car companies owe it to them to have the privilege of them buying their car, etc.

Here's a good article that sums it up, posted by a member here not long ago: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wait-but-why/generation-y-unhappy_b_3930620.html

I also want a 5-Series for the price of a Honda Fit! But at least I know it's not going to happen unless I get a written off one that was put together with parts off a Kia or something else! LoL

Fun article, gave me a good chuckle.

Turnin into my kinda thread...

I'm 26, so I guess I'd fit into the "millennial" stereotype but no. I have never met someone my age that expects a Fit to pull 300 ponies and have all this electronic bull. I have, however, met ppl my age whom's parents buy them cars that half of this site can't afford on their 21st birthday lol

And back on topic:

I went across an intersection once and jammed the breaks nearly running this old guy on an e-bike over. He decided to run a red then proceeded to give me the finger. A friend of mine told me "buttsex would hurt in prison" and made me laugh. Not sure what I would have done otherwise.

I suggest we all learn to laugh this off -__-

I think they just have different spending priorities: fair trade products, organic gmo-free produce, boutique clothing, up to the minute electronics, fixie bike, downtown home etc. That stuff doesn't come cheap and no money left for a vehicle. And cars are just not cool to own, like televisions.

Until they want to go somewhere the Sunway doesn't reach. Then they're all over Twitter looking for a ride.

Can't speak from experience, but I'm pretty sure it would hurt outside of prison too.

This is a difficult concept for Millenniums to understand, that it is not just about the short picture and what is good for them at that moment. after all it is a me me me culture

Name one generation that wasn't a "me, me, me" culture.

Name one generation that wasn't a "me, me, me" culture.

It's the technology adapted at a younger and younger user base, that brings these things to light.

Technically, the baby boomers and generation X is also screaming "mememememe" cause of retirement moving to 80. =P

Yep. You're going to see all your tax dollars shifted to higher CPP payouts and geriatric care facilities. Most boomers didn't even pay for university.

Every generation is Me Me Me.

I think "Darwin at work".. In most cases those collisions are caused by an idiot pedestrian. Some of my pet peeves:

1) Walking down the middle of the road (bonus points for dark clothes)
2) Walking down the side of the road instead of using the sidewalk (bonus points for dark clothes)
3) Jaywalking (bonus points for dark clothes)
4) Crossing when the red pedestrian light is already flashing (that's where I brake close and blast the Nautilus)
5) Entire extended family spread out across the middle of the parking aisle, waddling slowly
Hahaha, true!
You forget jaywalking on a rainy day with dark clothes! That takes the cake. Car windows are fogged up & people who have no clue how to defog their windows. I facepalm when I see that.
Unfortunately most times the pedestrian gets massively injured or killed for their stupidity. However, it's the car drive that is the one that ends up paying for a MUCH longer time!

I believe one of the members here got sued for a huge amount of money because he killed a pedestrian in a lawyer happy family and the case dragged through the courts for a while. Can't remember the specifics though.

But yes I agree, pedestrians / cyclists feel like they own the road and the hell with cars. It's like they're daring us to hit them because they know there's a payout at the end, or sometimes they're just a bunch of idiots that cannot for the life of them fathom anything bad happening...."won't happen to me" - famous last words!
