Internet is down

House internet relies on Bell hardware. It's still down. Cell is with Rogers; that still works.

Do they take turns breaking?
I have everything with Rogers I'm glad it's bell that's down this time because I'm sick of everything being down

Outage lasted about an hour. I started getting push alerts on my phone around 9:30 that all sorts of my home automation stuff was going offline, that was the first hint for me - home internet is Primus fibre which is basically Bell.

Funny, I’d be thinking about a cellular fallover connection (my router supports it) for just this very application, but meh, everything came back up gracefully about an hour later.

I've been with Cogeco ever since they expanded into my neighbourhood - I have had a few outages with them, but they've all been for local reasons. Interestingly they have repeatedly had issues with copper thieves cutting the fibre.

Before that it was Bell, which I continue to be happy to not be a customer of. They still keep coming after me like a desperate ex though

I was with bell for the last 5ish years simply because their fibre right into my living room was impossible to beat, and Roger’s sucks in our neighborhood.

The same week that the CRTC mandated that Bell open up their fibre to resellers, I ditched them.

I’d have stayed due to apathy honestly, but in typical bell fashion my bill had creeped from $80 a month to $140/month and they didn’t want to offer any promotion to keep me. So, peace out.

Mine is still out in Georgetown

Just rebooted and now all good (y)

No outages near Ottawa, unless Rogers was down again.
