How much of a stink would you make?

You go to vendors website and note apparel including gloves, boots etc. are on offer @ 15% discount. You go there but not much to choose in your size except $100 gloves. Discount not given, reason being gloves not included in sale. Oh, ok my bad did not read website correctly. Like that's never happened before:rolleyes:
Check website again, sure enough, glove are included in sale. Inquiring e-mail does not bring immediate satisfaction.
I offered they refund 10% via mail, saving expensive and time consuming round trip.
Communication from their end has stopped. Are exaggerated histrionics appropriate or fuggedabouddit?

Im guessing (hoping) your time is more valuable than the $15, so you probably won't wanna return to the store to fight for that lunch-money.

Personally I'd just hold onto it as a lesson learned, and one shop to cross off the list.

I would go back and get my money. It's not the amount that's important.

Of course it is. If you're gonna lose more than the amount you're going back to get, you're an.... not a smart individual.

cross the shop off your shopping list. These kinds of things can and should be done quickly and efficiently especially if it is a clean mistake. Care to share the advertisement?

Call the store out and post it in the review section.....

Not m/c vendor, push bike....

If no response by end of business day, will share.

Sorry, my day is not filled with making money. If I spend a bit of free time to get 15$ back vs. sitting in front the tv I consider it smart.

Give them a chance to clear it up, if they dont simply post a review and let thousands of people see it. Problem solved.

Also don't go back.

I had a shop **** me around for a week, wasting my time etc...

In the end i took my bike, left all their parts behind and went to another shop and spent all my money there. Told the owner id never return and why. Most places will get the hint eventually, others will make up excuses even after they go out of business :D

E-mail came direct from shop owner, doubling my ask. Will mail cash asap. Sweet. Brant Cycle.ca if you want to see the ad.

Im talking about the cost of actually going there. He said himself that he was attempting to save himself an "expensive and time consuming trip"

I understand if the place is around the corner and you want your $15, but if you're having to commute to get there, it seems like a colossal waste of time.

Either approach works IMO. You either go out of your way to hold their feet to the fire so they get the message that screwing people isn't cool, and/or you cross them off your go-to list and carry on with your life. As long as you give them a chance to fix it first.

lol that place is still in business? I grew up in Burlington and they were ***** back when I was a kid looks like nothing has changed well I guess in general. However you have to give them a thumbs up for doubling your money back.

That's too funny because I'd heard that as well. I went there only because they carry the Louis Garneau product I was after and that's how I found out about the sale. For the sake of brevity I didn't tell the whole story vis-a-vis my negative experience there and why I thought they purposely screwed me on the discount.
In this day of social media it would be prudent to act above board, otherwise they'd not make it right. Maybe.

Sorry, I didn't take notice of that part.

Still though, if it was me, if it cost twice that in gas I wouldn't bother, no. But they only offered him a 10% discount if he DIDN'T go in, that's a dick move imo. I would easily take an hour out of my day for 15% and when you think about it, that's making 15$ an hour which isn't too bad for sitting on your butt, lol.

Correction. I offered 10% if I didn't have to go in to actually show the receipt. I feel he should have remembered the transaction. The owner offered double back without further prodding.

^ That is actually a good response. Everyone makes mistakes ... it's how they are dealt with that makes the difference.

Oh, well yeah, that was good on his part then. No need to cause any stink then.

So basically they screwed up and offered you double the discount?

The only glitch being not getting appropriate response from original sales person (owners son). Owner stepped in at 11th hour and made it more than right.
