As topic states. Would chain cleaner (that contains kerosene) work? Need to clean my disgusting license plate lol

The black stuff would be grease. To get it off you need a degreaser. As matthew mentioned, kerosene works well. Chain cleaner is mostly just aerosol kerosene, and pure kerosene is a whole lot cheaper. Buy a jug of it at your local crappy tire or camping supply store and you'll be set for a season or two.

I would not use any chemicals at all to clean your plate. Last time I did that it ate the paint right off. ,

sure would

next time use dupont teflon chain saver and you'll never have to clean that crap again

I notice there are a lot of black dots (stains from chain lube I assume) on the bottom of my exhaust pipes. I've tried kerosene but it doesn't work...

Does anyone have any other solutions?

Realistically, saliva is about the only thing that's safe for cleaning a motorcycle, especially the license plate.

Are they sticky?

Any good degreaser cleaner and a little effort.

If it doesn't come off with degreaser (eg. Kerosene or Simple Green), then it might be tar or asphalt. Not sure how else to get that off other than elbow grease and/or scraping it off.

That's great if you have a chronic salivating condition.

If your pipes are stainless just use a fine steel wool and metal polish compound to finish it. That's how you polish stainless anyway, works great.

Try WD40. It works as a degreaser and I think it will be safe enough for the paint on your plate. Just test it on a small spot to be sure first.

I think I'm going to try that next!

Try oven cleaner.

Maybe that'll work as well..

I'll let you guys know how it went after I try the fine steel wool and oven cleaner..
