I think so. Every bike I've owned, I broke in hard, and they've all been good examples in terms of performance. The Aprilia dealer that test rode my Tuono told me it's much stronger than the ones he has done PDI road tests on (his limited experience with the bike).
BTW, it's not so much the horsepower that you notice between the VFR and the 1050 Sprint, it's the simple ease of rolling a bit of throttle on and the Sprint smoothly accelerates away. No need to keep it in fourth gear to pass groups of cars, etc. Torque is a wonderful thing...
