Honda VFR 800 thoughts

Rodney - Congrats on the new bike. I happen to really like the VFR's myself especially the Gen 5's.

Cheers, good luck and enjoy.

If i was to be looking into buying a VFR again(owned a 5th gen a few years ago) i would also be looking for other comforts such as aftermarket seat, bar risers, hard luggage set up. In the long run it's a lot cheaper to buy a used bike that is already equipped with these items. Plenty of these bikes were sold,so the used market will be plentiful, don't just jump for the first one you see.

6th+ gen VFRs plentiful, really? I couldn't find many at a decent price from a dealer. There are some on Kijiji, but they are expensive, high KMs...

Hmm maybe you are right, or it's that time of the year. VFR'S for sale on kijiji are kinda spartan at the moment.

It's a good idea to think ahead with the cost of adding these modifications, the excitement for riding Ontario roads only last for a short time.

True, riding local can get boring.

Some mentioned electrical issues on a few VFRs but since my bike has ABS I guess it's the VFR800A model and it doesn't mention an electrical recall, but rather a brake issue:

It was not really a 'recall' but more like the R/R stock is crap on most of them, and causes some connectors to burn up etc. Check out vfrworld and vfrdiscussion for more info on it.

Yea, you're right. I guess that's something I'll have to address, unless previous owner already did it.

I've had two seasons on my VFR now and I love it. Great bike, eats up the miles but click down a gear or two and she's a blast in the twisties. My only regret is I didn't get one with hard bags. Finding a cheap set after the fact isn't easy.

I picked up an 06 out of Virginia in Dec 09 for that exact reason. If this deal falls through don't be afraid to look south of the border for one.
