Has anyone had issues wearing a Motorcycle Jacket while on the plane as a carry on?

I know this might sound like a stupid question but the thing is I'm doing a tour overseas and I need to ensure my gear arrives with me otherwise I can't do the tour lol. The only sure way is to wear the gear on the plane. I figure I can do the carry - on for my helmet & gloves, wear my boots and jacket. However, since a motorcycle jacket is rather "bulky" has anyone had issues with airlines before? I could remove the armor out but it'll still be rather "big" (?)

Thanks.

Use a smallish bag like a backpack, or a small suitcase, and 'plane side check' your bag. You give them it at the gate, and get it right after you step off the plane.

It is always free

+1 as what rib said. Also call the airline in advance to check their policy. Quick search found advrider post with people saying that no one has had any issues. Just may need to take the gear off and send it through the scanner.

I've flown with my jacket on. Put it in the overhead compartment for the flight, was never any problem.

Make sure to wear your helmet with tinted visor down through passport control.

We did the same thing, no problem. Did pull out the armour and pack it in our riding gear bag. Is it a direct flight, or are there connections? Direct flight = less chance of loosing a bag. We also had a few days after arriving before picking up the bike, so delayed luggage was less of a potential issue.

I've got 1 connecting flight (only an 1hr 20mins) between flights in Frankfurt. Hopefully german efficiency will get my bag and such to my destination in time :) Maybe they'll even throw in some BMW/Benz/Audi goodies heheh :D

They really won't care too much. It's not that big of a deal. I've seen people come with way too much carry ons... I'm sure a jacket won't be any big deal.

check ahead of time this is not always free some air line i have traveled on in the past charge $100 pr. bage for this service.

Take your gear with you in a garment (suit) bag. Usually there is a coat closet near the door that one of the flight attendants will hang it in for you as you step on the plane.
Done it with 2 suits for business before. I'm sure they wouldn't mind.

Take the armour out and put it in your luggage and you are good. My riding gear takes up less space than one of my winter coats.

I fly alot, the rules are just a little different on every airline and it can depend on the plane your getting on and where you are when loading. Some rampside check bags and you get them on the next ramp, others ramp check and you find it on the baggage carrosel.
You can also hear the call, "overheads full" all bags are now ramp checked.

I've taken a bike jacket as my coat, folded and stuffed in overhead. Helmet/gloves in a backpack. Overseas flts tend to have more storage space available, simply because they use bigger planes, but dont get caught on a connector flt with too much stuff.
