Gun Range/Shooting Ranges recommendations.

I've checked out

- targetsportscanada.com, membership is approximately $700/yr, read reviews on it, usually busy, recommended to come early and book 3 weeks in advance.
- Burlington, membership was $385/yr, pros is that it's open 24 hours.

Are there anymore ranges out there that any of you would recommend?

My 2 cents on targetsportscanada is that it isn't THAT busy that you have to book 3 weeks in advance. It is busy, but unless you're going on Fri-Sun, you most likely won't have to book in advance and if you do, usually a week would suffice unless its a holiday or something.

A pro for targetsports is that you don't have to have a gun license to shoot but you have to pay a $40 intro fee + ammo everytime you go. Other places to my knowledge require you to have a license.

That being said, they do jack up their prices a bit for that convenience.

have a few buddies who are members at Target and never heard any complaints

target is close to my store and a lot of their staff are my regular customers. Extremely friendly staff is all I can say about them.

If you don't have a license & intend to rent guns, just go to the US. Prohibited firearms there without the ****** hassle. The first time I fired an AK 47, I was smiling ear to ear.

24hr access is nice at Burlington, but they have scheduled shoots almost every day of the week... check their schedule and see if it jives with yours, before going through all the BS hoops of joining up.

Silverdale hands down. $240, open from sunrise to sunset for members. 7 days a week. From skeet, to action range, 25/50 handgun range, 50 yard range, 100/200 yard range, 40/60/100 meter range.

Also guests at silverdale are $20, target its $40 and you have to worry about wanna be gangbangers next to you waving a handgun around like its a rap video...

Do you have your license/own guns? If you're looking for a sweet range to become a member of check out EESA. http://eesa.ca/

If you're willing to help out (i.e. help out for both days of the open house)/do some community service for them they'll take half off your membership fee :) Super nice facilities, indoor (handgun caliber only), 300m sniper range, lots of 100m/75m, etc. etc.

The 100m range has nice cover too. I dunno if you've ever shot in the rain but it's TONS of fun (with a scope), you can see the hole your bullet cuts in the rain :D

They let you shoot fast too, unlike some other ranges like 1 shot per few seconds or whatever (just no bump firing from the hip). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4ODWNG8umw

LMFAO this post explains everything. Now all your other posts make sense.

Yep, I'm licensed and have my own firearms and ammunition. I'm planning on bringing a few guests along to shoot with me as well. I'll check out your recommendation and Silverdale that was recommended. Do they have drop-ins for your range? Or do you have to get a membership?

I've shot in the rain and in the snow, was shivering my *** off for the most part.

Massive flinch in the first video
The shockwave that the custom loaded M203 round makes is pretty insane. You'd flinch too ;)

A little slow are ya? lol.

Nice. EESA isn't a drop in and shoot range. If you want to evaluate the facilities then ask on CGN if a member can take you as a guest. That's kinda how it works, one member = one guest. Sometimes they allow you to bring more than one guest if you have items that other members might want to try out as well (M203, PS90, .50 BMG, etc.).

Dress for the rain/cold it and it's tons of fun :)

BRRC is about $200 a year ($211 or something), Will pay extra the first year for the safety course but that's true for any club. Target sports will cost you an arm and a leg as you have to use their ammo and it's only 25m. Silverdale is probably the best option as long as you can make it out there with enough time to shoot before the Sun sets.

Does BRRC only have a 50 meter range?

All I could find was "The Range consists of an indoor, heated, 11-port shooting range, with a maximum distance of 50 meters."

IIRC (don't quote me on it) I always thought it was 50 yards and change but not full 50m. Could be wrong. When we shoot the 50yd targets I just take the target return to the very end.

Burlington sucks.

Most of the directors are crotchety old safety Nazis that have nothing better to do with their lives.

Every day of the week, there is a league shoot, conveniently scheduled from 6-10/10:30pm.
Saturday mornings are for juniors, and Sunday nights are PPC.
Monday and Thursday morning, closed for cleaning.
Closed all day Tuesday for IPSC setup.
One weekend a month, closed for safety courses.

If you work shifts, and/or like shooting at 3:00am on a Monday, you'll love it. If you're a normal person with a job, the hours suck. 1600+ members pay dues to keep the place open for the leagues that have *maybe* twenty people a night shooting.

Join here only as a last resort.
